Biological Male Inmate Who Identifies As Female Does The Unthinkable To Three Women In Prison

(DC Pundit) – The California prison system has found itself at the center of a controversy that reads like a plot from “Orange Is the New Black.”

Tremaine Carroll, a 52-year-old inmate who identifies as a woman, is facing rape charges for allegedly assaulting fellow inmates at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. The case has sparked a heated debate about gender identity, prison policies, and the unintended consequences of well-meaning legislation.

Madera County District Attorney Sally Moreno, clearly not amused by the situation, didn’t mince words when describing Carroll. “This is a person who is not a woman in any sense of the word,” she stated.

Carroll’s first cellmate became pregnant and was promptly moved to Los Angeles. One can only imagine the conversation that ensued: “Congratulations, it’s a… wait, how did this happen in an all-women’s prison?”

But the story doesn’t end there. Two more cellmates came forward with rape allegations, leading to the current charges.

The case has taken a linguistic turn as well. A Madera County judge ruled that Carroll must be referred to using she/her pronouns, a decision that has Moreno pulling her hair out. “This is a particular issue in this case because it’s confusing to the jury,” she lamented. “In California, rape is a crime that has to be accomplished by a man.”

Eric Dutemple, Supervising Deputy District Attorney, chimed in with his own concerns about the pronoun ruling. “It’s just absolutely insane that a victim would have to get on the stand and police their pronoun usage when trying to recite one of the scariest times of their lives,” he remarked.

The root of this legal labyrinth can be traced back to Senate Bill 132, the ironically named Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act, which took effect in 2021. This piece of legislation allows inmates to be housed with the gender they identify as, no questions asked. As Moreno pointed out, “There’s no psychological evaluation that needs to be done. This person does not need to be on cross gender hormones, they don’t need to be signed up for transgender surgery, they don’t need to be a psychological evaluation regarding gender confusion, the mere statement is enough.”

Carroll has since been relocated to Salinas Valley State Prison for men, in a move that can only be described as “too little, too late.”

This case raises some serious questions regarding the implementation of transgender rights in the prison system. While the intention behind SB 132 was to protect transgender inmates, it seems to have created a loophole large enough to drive a prison bus through.
