(DC Pundit) – A former Obama administration adviser has found himself behind bars. Rahamim Shy, a 47-year-old New Jersey native who once held a lofty position as a senior adviser on Pakistan and Afghanistan in the State Department, has been sentenced to over a decade in prison for attempting to live out a truly sick and twisted pedophile’s fantasy across the pond.
Shy, who rubbed elbows with the likes of Hillary Clinton during her tenure as Secretary of State, attempted a truly despicable act that fortunately failed.
He traveled to Bedfordshire, England, in February 2024 with the intention of meeting a 9-year-old girl for sex. Unbeknownst to our not-so-clever former adviser, he had been communicating with an undercover police officer posing as “Debbie,” the fictional grandmother of the child.
When Shy arrived in England, he brought along a disgusting combination of items: stuffed animals and condoms.
“Rahamim 'Rami' Shy, 46, who co-ordinated the US government's strategy to combat terrorists from Al Qaeda and the Taliban, is accused of arranging the commission of a child sex offence, court documents reveal. He is also charged with possession of two category C indecent images… pic.twitter.com/Gj75QcUagc

Shy tried to argue that American messages couldn’t be used against him in a British court. Nice try, but no cigar. The judge didn’t buying it, ruling that since the proposed crime was to take place on English soil, they had every right to throw the book at him.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence including messages from Shy that described in graphic detail his intentions for the child, he claimed that a girl not having sex until she was 9 was a “tad late” and that it was an “honor” to be “her first”. One can only imagine the collective horror that ran through the courtroom as these messages were read aloud.
Lorraine Telford of the Crown Prosecution Service remarked, “Shy is a predator who was fully prepared to commit unspeakable acts against a child for his own sexual gratification.”
Telford went on to praise the police operation, saying, “The fact the child in this case did not exist makes no difference, and it is a credit to the police operation and subsequent prosecution that Shy will no longer pose an immediate threat.”
In the end, Shy was found guilty of arranging the commission of a child sex offense and possessing indecent photographs of a child. He was sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison, giving him plenty of time to reflect on how he went from advising on international affairs to becoming an international disgrace.
