(DC Pundit) – A brother and sister who think their dad might be the infamous D.B. Cooper have come forward with new details regarding their father.
Rick McCoy III and his sister Chanté are saying their old man, Richard McCoy Jr., could be the legendary plane hijacker who pulled off that crazy stunt back in ’71. You know, the one where a guy calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a Northwest Orient Airlines flight and made off with $200,000?
The siblings found a parachute in their dad’s house years ago. But get this – they kept it under wraps until their mom passed away. Why? They were worried she might get in trouble as an accomplice. Talk about family secrets!
Once their mom was gone, they decided to come forward. The siblings teamed up with aviation YouTuber, Dan Gryder, who took a look at the chute. And, he was blown away. In his words, “That rig is literally one in a billion.” Pretty strong statement, huh?

Let’s rewind to November 24, 1971. The man, real identity unknown, buys a one-way ticket from Portland to Seattle using the name Dan Cooper. Mid-flight, he pulls out a note saying he’s got a bomb and shows the stewardess a briefcase with wires. Talk about nerve-wracking!
Cooper demands $200,000 and four parachutes. When they land in Seattle, he trades the hostages for the cash and chutes but keeps the crew on board. Then he tells them to fly towards Mexico City. Somewhere between Seattle and Reno, this guy just… jumps out of the plane with all that money. Poof! Gone!
The FBI has been scratching their heads over this one ever since. They’ve talked to many suspects, including Richard Floyd McCoy, but couldn’t pin it on anyone. It’s still their most famous unsolved case.
Now, with these two siblings coming forward, who knows? Maybe we’re finally getting closer to cracking the decades-old mystery. Or perhaps it’s just another twist in this already crazy tale. What do you think? Could their dad really be the elusive D.B. Cooper?
