Tim Walz’s Deep Ties To Communist China Exposed

(DC Pundit) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, currently in the spotlight as a vice-presidential contender, has a notably close relationship with China that raises questions about his foreign affiliations.

“No matter how long I live, I will never be treated that well again… it was an excellent experience,” Walz recalled after his initial visit to China. He described how his Chinese hosts showered him with “more gifts than I could bring home.”

Walz’s first visit to China occurred in 1989 through a Harvard program known as WorldTeach, which has since been discontinued. His fascination with the country deepened to such an extent that he and his wife chose China as their honeymoon destination after their marriage on June 4, 1994—coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. According to Walz’s wife, he wanted a wedding anniversary date he would “always remember.”

The couple did not embark on this honeymoon alone; they brought along sixty students, initiating the first of many educational exchange trips to China. They later established a company, Education Travel Adventures Inc., to manage these trips, ultimately leading to over thirty visits to the country.

Walz has maintained ongoing relationships with Chinese officials and has participated in events backed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). His numerous connections with organizations linked to CCP intelligence have sparked national security concerns regarding his potential role in a Harris-Walz administration.

Just ten months after taking office as governor, Walz accepted an invitation to speak at an event supported by the CCP, sharing the stage with the president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). Walz was asked to “speak about his experiences [in China] and Minnesota’s connections with China.” Additionally, he was a featured speaker at the 2019 U.S. China Peoples Friendship Association convention, where he appeared alongside CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin.

The CPAFFC, according to the U.S. State Department, functions as a CCP “United Front” entity, accused of “directly and malignly influencing” U.S. state and local politicians. The United Front is tasked with “co-opting and neutralizing threats to the party’s rule and spreading its influence and propaganda overseas.” The CCP regards this operation as a “magic weapon” to advance its global objectives.

The question arises: Why is Walz so closely aligned with individuals connected to CCP intelligence, and is he being compensated for his participation in these events?

In 2011, Walz spoke of his “great admiration for and a close connection with the Chinese people” following his teaching experience in China. He indirectly lauded the CCP’s stringent policing, remarking that China had “almost no crime.”

Walz has also expressed the belief that the U.S. need not maintain an “adversarial relationship” with China, adding that he observed “no anti-American feeling [in China] whatsoever.”

Significantly, Walz’s mild critiques often omit the role of communism in the Chinese system’s brutality. Recently, he even compared socialism to “neighborliness.” Walz appears to regard human rights abuses as occurrences that every nation, including the U.S., experiences at some point and subsequently moves past.

On the twentieth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Walz stated that “every nation has its dark periods that it must come to grips with,” adding that “this Nation [the U.S.] is no exception.” While his statement holds some truth, Walz was referencing events in American history that occurred over a century ago and involved far less bloodshed.

Meanwhile, the CCP’s ongoing persecution of ethnic minorities in China—characterized as a “break their lineage, break their roots” campaign—has been widely recognized as a crime against humanity and even genocide.

This raises the critical question: Why does Tim Walz appear to downplay the undeniable atrocities committed under communism and socialism?
