(DC Pundit) – Tuesday’s Democratic defeat has sparked a flurry of soul-searching within the party. The big questions on everyone’s lips are pretty straightforward: What went sideways? How did their message fail to rally voters against President-elect Donald Trump?
An interesting take on this came from an unexpected source – an X user named HVAC1, who describes himself as an HVAC master and business owner. He chimed in on a clip from MSNBC where panelists were grappling with these very questions. As a “former union democrat,” he offered what he called a “simple answer.”
“I’ll make it real simple for ya from a former union democrat… Easy fix. [Y]ou s**t on and insult working people from your mansions and gated communities. [Y]ou steal from us to give to your pet constituents. [Y]ou call us enemies and garbage, deplorable, and nazis…” he wrote.
But HVAC1 didn’t stop there. He went on to list over a dozen more grievances, touching on everything from rising inflation to threats of court-packing, constant lying, and forcing “sexual perversions and fetishes on us.”
The MSNBC footage that sparked this response featured analyst Tim Miller chatting with host Jen Psaki. Miller pointed out, “There’s a fundamental brand problem,” noting Trump’s gains across almost all demographics, with the exception of college-educated women.

While the media bigwigs can spend hours dissecting their failures from ivory towers, it’s folks like HVAC1 – people who are living and breathing the consequences of Democratic policies – who really cut to the chase.
His list of complaints reads like a greatest hits of the Joe Biden administration’s missteps. It’s a stark reminder that sometimes, perhaps even most of the time, the most valuable insights come from those on the ground, not the talking heads on TV.
This grassroots perspective offers a raw, unfiltered look at why some former Democrats are jumping ship. It’s the kind of feedback that party leaders might want to pay attention to if they hope to reconnect with voters they’ve lost.
As the dust settles on this election, it’s clear that the Democrats have some serious soul-searching to do. And maybe, just maybe, they should start by listening to voices like HVAC1’s – the very people they claim to represent.
