(DC Pundit) – The Christian Employers Alliance (CEA) has had enough of corporate woke posturing at the expense of public safety and ratepayer trust — and they’re naming names. Their latest target? Xcel Energy, a utility giant accused of funneling an eye-watering $3 billion into radical “diversity” projects while the power grid rots and wildfire risks skyrocket.
In a press release that reads more like a legal indictment than polite corporate criticism, CEA accused Xcel of using its monopoly power “to promote ideologically driven programs at the expense of reliability, affordability, and public safety.” CEA President Margaret Iuculano didn’t hold back, declaring, “This is not just bad business — it’s a betrayal of public trust.”
And she’s not exaggerating. According to Nerve News, the company allegedly redirected wildfire mitigation funds into pet projects for the United Nations’ climate agenda and racial equity initiatives, rather than preventing catastrophic disasters like the 2024 Smokehouse Creek fire, which torched one million acres. On top of that, Xcel reportedly strong-armed Colorado ranching families into handing over their land to make way for its green energy transformation. Nothing says “saving the planet” quite like bulldozing family ranches that have been around for generations.

CEA laid out its case bluntly:
1. Tying 30% of executive compensation to ESG metrics like carbon reduction.
2. Spending more than $3 billion on politically driven transmission projects while neglecting crumbling infrastructure.
3. Misusing federal wildfire mitigation money for UN-aligned and racial equity programs instead of fire prevention.
In other words, the company seems to have been running a political action committee with power lines on the side.
That’s why CEA is backing new legislation, the FAIR Act (H.R. 4603), introduced by Rep. John McGuire (R-VA). The bill’s mission is simple: get utilities back to doing their actual job — delivering safe, reliable, affordable energy — and stop them from playing social engineer with customer money. It would prohibit state regulators from approving rates for utilities engaged in certain DEI practices or ESG-based decision-making.
“Christian employers should take the lead in holding business leaders and government officials accountable,” Iuculano said. “Xcel Energy’s preoccupation with ESG initiatives is wasteful, abusive, and poor stewardship of God-given natural and financial resources.” She added that the FAIR Act will protect Christian employers from being punished for sticking to their convictions, a not-so-subtle shot at the corporate mob that tries to financially kneecap anyone who refuses to parrot their politics.
The Christian Employers Alliance isn’t some fringe group. Their mission is to defend Christian employers nationwide, fighting back against government overreach and pushing for policies that uphold religious freedom and biblical values in the workplace. With the FAIR Act, they’re now taking aim at the growing problem of corporations using their size and monopoly power to shove progressive ideology down ratepayers’ throats.
The bigger question? How many other utility companies are doing the exact same thing, and how many disasters like the Smokehouse Creek fire could have been avoided if they focused on keeping the lights on instead of keeping the U.N. happy?
