(DC Pundit) – ‘The View’ co-host Whoopi Goldberg quickly sprang to the defense of former President Bill Clinton after he told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he had “no idea” about the crimes committed by disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, despite his documented associations with him.
As images of Clinton alongside Epstein and longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell were discussed on air, Goldberg pushed back on the criticism.
“You know, say what you want about the Clintons. Have any of the women or has anything in those emails pointed to them as being guilty or having anything to do other than knowing?” Goldberg said.
She didn’t stop there.
“But my question is, has he been accused by any of the accusers?” Goldberg asked, before continuing, “Has any of the women come out and said, ‘This is what Bill Clinton did’?”
That was the central thrust of her argument: absent a direct accusation from one of Epstein’s victims, critics should withhold judgment.
House investigators have spent months examining the web of relationships surrounding Epstein. Questions have also surfaced about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her interactions with Maxwell.
As Breitbart’s Sean Moran reported, “Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed that she met Jeffrey Epstein-associate Ghislaine Maxwell ‘on a few occasions’ despite widespread reporting that Maxwell attended Chelsea Clinton’s wedding and played a substantial role in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), one of President Bill Clinton’s signature post-White House endeavors.”
Those are not exactly fleeting, passing connections.
For conservatives who have watched years of media obsession over alleged associations on the right, the contrast is hard to ignore. When Republicans are photographed within a zip code of controversy, it’s blasted across headlines like a national crisis unfolding in real time. When Democrats offer “no idea” as an explanation, mainstream media appears ready to move along.
Voters, however, have long memories — and they tend to ask more questions than a daytime talk show panel.
