(DC Pundit) – The skies over Ronald Reagan National Airport became the stage for a tragic collision that has left the nation in shock. On Wednesday evening a Black Hawk military helicopter and American Eagle flight 5342 collided, almost head on, in a crash that was ultimately fatal to everyone aboard both the Black Hawk and airliner.
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom pointed a not-so-subtle finger at the military aircraft. “At this time, we don’t know why the military aircraft came into the path of the PSA aircraft,” Isom stated.
Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy declared that the crash was preventable. “What I’ve seen so far do I think this was preventable? Absolutely,” he remarked, echoing sentiments shared by armchair aviation experts nationwide.
But it was former President Donald Trump who truly stole the show with his late-night social media posts. Trump, ever the master of subtlety, wrote, “The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time.”

Trump continued his analysis: “It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane.”

Sixty-four souls on the plane and three soldiers on the helicopter were caught in this tragic tango. The icy waters of the Potomac River have already yielded at least 28 bodies.
In a chilling detail to this unfolding tragedy, Fox 5 reported that mere seconds before impact, an air traffic controller asked the helicopter if it had the arriving plane in sight. Moments later, the controller instructed, “PAT 25 pass behind the CRJ.” It was a command that, tragically, came too late.
As we await further developments, one can’t help but wonder: in a world of advanced technology and strict protocols, how did this happen? It’s a question that will haunt investigators, officials, and the public alike in the days and weeks to come.
For now, we’re left with Trump’s final words on the matter, which, in a rare moment of universal sentiment, likely echo the thoughts of a nation: “What a terrible night this has been. God bless you all!”
