(DC Pundit) – In what can only be described as a scene straight out of an upside-down version of “Law & Order,” federal immigration agents have arrested a Jamaican national who was working as a police officer for the Old Orchard Beach Police Department in Maine, despite being in the country illegally.
According to Fox News, the individual, Jon Luke Evans, originally entered the U.S. legally in September 2023, but failed to leave after his visa expired on October 1, 2023. Instead of booking a flight home, Evans apparently decided to put on a badge and patrol the streets of Maine.
The situation escalated when Evans tried to purchase a firearm, triggering an alert with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). That red flag was enough to get the attention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who promptly took action.

“Jon Luke Evans not only broke U.S. immigration law, but he also illegally attempted to purchase a firearm. Shockingly, Evans was employed as a local law enforcement officer,” said Patricia Hyde, ICE Boston’s Field Office Director. “The fact that a police department would hire an illegal alien and unlawfully issue him a firearm while on duty would be comical if it weren’t so tragic. We have a police department that was knowingly breaking the very law they are charged with enforcing in order to employ an illegal alien.”
No word yet on whether the background checks for the Old Orchard PD consist of more than just asking, “Do you have a uniform?”
This bizarre case is just one more data point in the long and disastrous record of border and immigration policies under the previous administration. Under Biden’s watch, more than 20 million illegal aliens flooded into the United States.
Earlier this month, Trump senior advisor Stephen Miller told Fox News host Jesse Watters that the tide is finally beginning to turn—thanks, in large part, to Trump’s pressure and public outrage.
“At every turn, illegal aliens have always been treated better than Americans. The difference is, in this administration, they are getting a ticket out of America,” Miller said.
So here we are, illegal aliens are being handed government jobs with firearms, while Americans are being handed the bill. And let’s not forget: this is happening in the same country where veterans sleep on sidewalks and citizens are arrested for defending their own homes. If you’re not angry yet, you’re not paying attention.
