(DC Pundit) – An illegal with a long rap sheet and seven prior deportations killed six people in a horrific drunk driving crash in California. This tragedy could have been entirely prevented if the state’s leadership actually enforced immigration laws.
Beto Cerillo-Bialva, an illegal alien from Mexico, has been charged with multiple counts of murder after authorities say he drove under the influence, lost control, and slammed into a tree on September 7th, killing six of his passengers and severely injuring another. The Department of Homeland Security released the shocking details this week, and it’s yet another case of California’s “sanctuary” insanity costing innocent lives.
ICE had previously issued a detainer request for Cerillo-Bialva after his third DUI, but California law enforcement ignored it — a direct result of Governor Gavin Newsom’s pro-illegal, anti-law enforcement policies. In other words, the state had every opportunity to stop this man before he killed half a dozen people but decided virtue signaling mattered more than public safety.
Cerillo-Bialva’s record reads like a warning sign in bold red letters. He’s been deported seven times, convicted of domestic abuse, multiple DUIs, and possession of cocaine. Yet, he was allowed to roam free in California, shielded by laws that protect criminal aliens from deportation. And the left still wonders why voters are furious about the border crisis.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin didn’t mince words when responding to the case:
“This serial criminal killed six innocent souls. Governor Newsom has blood on his hands. This serial criminal should have never been released by California authorities. Sanctuary policies protect the WORST OF THE WORST criminal illegal aliens. ICE will do everything in our power to remove this serial drunk driver, abuser, and drug user from our country.”

This tragedy isn’t some isolated “accident.” It’s the predictable outcome of a state government that refuses to take crime — or citizenship — seriously. Instead of protecting law-abiding residents, California’s leaders seem more interested in protecting criminals who should never have been here in the first place.
Six lives are gone because of reckless political gamesmanship. And while Newsom and his allies will no doubt find a way to blame “the system” or “society,” the truth is clear: the blood of these victims is on the hands of every official who ignored the law to make a political point.
