(DC Pundit) – The world of rock just lost one of its loudest voices. Ozzy Osbourne, the Black Sabbath frontman who redefined heavy metal, has died at the age of 76. Known as the “Prince of Darkness,” Osbourne passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, just weeks after his final farewell performance.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” his family said in a statement to The Sun. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time, Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
Despite years of battling health issues, including Parkinson’s disease and injuries from multiple falls, Osbourne remained a defiant presence in rock music until the very end. His final concert, hailed as a heartfelt send-off by fans, now takes on a deeper meaning—one last roar before the curtain fell.
Osbourne was never shy about sharing his opinions, even outside of music. In a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, he took a swipe at President Trump, saying, “If I was running for president, I would try and find out a little bit about politics, because the f***ing guy you’ve got in there now doesn’t know that much about it, I don’t think.”
A colorful take, sure, but one that didn’t age well considering how many Americans now credit President Trump with rebuilding a nation in chaos.
Ironically, it was Ozzy’s own son, Jack Osbourne, who struck a different chord politically. In July 2024, following the failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, Jack made it clear where his support lies. “But I got to say it’s probably not going to be a popular statement amongst mainstream, but like I’m, I’m voting for him after that because I look I, I—” Jack said before being interrupted by his mother Sharon, who added, “He’s as strong as an ox.”
Jack’s remarks echo the sentiment of millions across the country, everyday Americans who saw Trump stand tall after an attempt on his life, who decided that strength, not soundbites, matters most in a president.
Ozzy Osbourne was a cultural force, a man who built a legacy not just through music, but through unapologetic individuality. Whether you loved him or hated him for biting the head off a bat, or simply for speaking his mind without a filter, there’s no denying he left an impact that won’t be forgotten.
