(DC Pundit) – California Governor Gavin Newsom has let the cat out of the bag while defending his state’s sanctuary laws. Warning that Immigration and Customs Enforcement might show up at polling places to “chill participation,” Newsom revealed more than he probably intended. Translation: Democrats know illegal voting is happening, and they’re banking on it.
For years, Democrats and their media allies have repeated the tired mantra that non-citizen voting is a “myth.” They’ve called it fearmongering, dismissed it as conspiracy, and even mocked those who dared raise the issue. But the facts, those stubborn things, tell a different story.
🚨 Newsom says the quiet part out loud:
“Do you think ICE is not gonna show up around voting and polling booths to chill participation? You know that!”

A 2014 study published in Electoral Studies found that roughly one-quarter of non-citizens were likely registered to vote, and more than six percent admitted casting a ballot in 2008. That study concluded those illegal votes likely shifted critical contests in Democrats’ favor, including a Senate race that gave Barack Obama the majority needed to ram through Obamacare. Even more telling, over 81 percent of non-citizens who voted in 2008 said they supported Obama. Shocking? Not really.

Fast forward to recent years. ‘Just Facts’ updated the numbers using 2022 Census data and found that between 10% and 27% of non-citizens nationwide are illegally registered. With nearly 20 million non-citizen adults in the country, that means anywhere from two to five million are sitting on voter rolls right now. Based on turnout rates, that could translate to one million—maybe even three million—illegal ballots cast in 2024. For perspective, presidential elections have been decided by far smaller margins, and control of Congress often hangs on just a handful of seats.
Democrats like to shrug and insist the problem is “too small” to matter. But when elections are determined by razor-thin differences in swing states, even a fraction of those illegal votes could flip the outcome. Pretending otherwise isn’t just dishonest—it’s dangerous.
Newsom’s remarks aren’t just a gaffe; they’re an acknowledgment of a strategy the left desperately wants to keep under wraps. The question is no longer whether illegal aliens are voting. The question is how much longer Americans will tolerate Democrats enabling it.
