(DC Pundit) – Chelsea Clinton is eyeing an ambassadorship if Kamala Harris secures the presidency this November, sources revealed to the New York Post. The United Kingdom is reportedly her top choice for a diplomatic post.
“Chelsea really wants to be the ambassador to the UK,” a Clinton disclosed to the outlet. “There’s a reason why Bill and Hillary came out in the first five minutes to support Kamala’s presidential bid — they were currying favor.”
The source mentioned that the Clintons have been strategizing this move for a considerable time and aim for Chelsea to be accepted by The Court of St James’s.
At 44, the former first daughter and vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, would also be interested in a posting in France, the source added.
“I can well imagine that the UK ambassadorship is an aspiration for Chelsea, although she is a bit junior still — and London usually goes to a massive donor or fundraiser,” a long-serving British embassy official, now in London, told the Post.
The Clinton source acknowledged Chelsea’s UK ambition, saying, “It is, of course, fantasy land.”
Another individual indicated that Chelsea would be open to ambassadorships in other countries as well. “I’ve heard for a long time that Chelsea has been hopeful for an ambassadorship,” they noted.
Chelsea, who holds the position of vice chair at the Clinton Foundation, previously lived in the UK while studying at the University of Oxford.
Businesswoman Jane Hartley, 74, has served as the ambassador to the UK since 2022, following former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s reported decline of the position, according to the Independent.
