As Newsom held his press conference in Little Tokyo, federal agents arrested multiple illegal aliens right outside the event. The optics? Let’s just say they didn’t exactly scream “strong leadership.” The governor, visibly irritated, lashed out at the arrests, labeling them “sick and pathetic!” That’s rich coming from the guy who’s spent years turning California into a sanctuary state paradise for illegal immigration.

Newsom’s presser wasn’t about helping Californians deal with the high cost of living, rampant crime, or the fact that businesses are fleeing the state in droves. No — it was about changing California’s congressional map in a way that conveniently benefits Democrats. In other words, the man who insists California is a beacon of “democracy” wants to tinker with the political chessboard until his party wins every match — permanently.
California’s elections are already an open invitation for fraud. Poll workers are forbidden from requesting proof of citizenship. Ballots keep getting counted for weeks until Democrats magically pull ahead. Ballot harvesting is not only allowed — it’s practically an Olympic sport. And the voter rolls? Bloated enough to make a DMV database blush. Dead people, non-citizens, you name it. If they can be used to tip the scales, they’re probably still “active voters” in the Golden State.
So while ICE agents were doing their jobs — you know, enforcing federal immigration law — Newsom was doing what he does best: playing the victim, painting law enforcement as the bad guys, and pretending California’s elections are flawless. The truth is, California Democrats have spent years perfecting a system where elections are drawn out, rules are selectively enforced, and “winning” is more about paperwork than people’s will.
The fact that these arrests happened right under Newsom’s nose is poetic. Here’s a man who’s made it clear he has no interest in protecting the border, no interest in cracking down on illegal immigration, and every interest in padding Democrat voting numbers. Then — right in the middle of his speech — federal agents quietly undercut his entire political narrative.
It’s not “sick and pathetic,” Governor. It’s the law. And for a state that claims to care about fairness, maybe it’s time California stopped gaming the system and started respecting the rules.
