Mike Benz, the sharp-minded founder of the Foundation for Freedom Online, recently dropped a bombshell on Joe Rogan’s podcast. Recorded weeks ago, a clip from this jaw-dropping interview is now blazing across social media. And for good reason: it exposes how Obama allegedly turned USAID—a supposed beacon of humanitarian aid—into a taxpayer-funded scheme to train “rent-a-mobs” overseas.
Benz laid out a trail of corruption that conservatives have long suspected but could never quite pin down—until now. “This was a scandal during the Obama USAID era,” he told Rogan, his voice steady but brimming with the kind of outrage that resonates with every hardworking American who’s ever filed a tax return. “We were running a number of rogue USAID operations in Cuba at the time. … I’m simply showing the American people where your tax dollars are going and how these things are structured in order to systematically fool you and to fool Congress and to fool the White House.” Fool us? Oh, they did more than that—they took us for a ride.
According to Benz, USAID pumped a staggering $1.2 billion into these shadowy operations, funneled through activist groups and so-called “civil society organizations.” The goal? Teach them how to weaponize social media—Facebook, Twitter, hashtags, the works—to orchestrate street protests with military precision. “Everyone knows where to go, what street to show up on, what kind of slogans to use,” Benz explained, painting a picture of chaos-by-design. And here’s the kicker: they even cooked up a Cuban knockoff of Twitter called Zunzuneo—slang for “hummingbird”—complete with the same interface, just to make it look homegrown. “It was the Twitter bird, the whole thing,” he said. Subtle, right?
But the real gut punch comes with the money trail. Benz revealed that funds earmarked for Pakistani aid never made it there. Instead, they were rerouted through Cayman Islands bank accounts to bankroll this Cuban operation. “You’re saying it’s earmarked for Pakistani aid,” Benz noted, “but the money was never sent to Pakistan.” Imagine that: your hard-earned dollars, supposedly helping the needy, winding up in an offshore tax haven to fund astroturfed dissent. The plan was slick—start with harmless bait like sports updates and hurricane alerts, then, once they had enough subscribers, flip the switch to political messaging via social bots. The endgame? “Rent-a-Riots,” as Benz put it—a critical mass of orchestrated chaos to push a “pro-democracy” narrative. And it all kicked off in 2010, right as the Arab Spring was heating up. Coincidence? You be the judge.

This all ties back to Obama’s administration. Democrats have long treated taxpayer money like their personal piggy bank, and this is Exhibit A. No wonder they’re losing their minds now that President Donald Trump has slammed the brakes on USAID. Shutting it down wasn’t just a campaign promise—it was a stake through the heart of what Benz calls the “Democrat Party’s slush fund.” Trump said, “Not on my watch.” Good thing, too, because conservatives know the last thing we need is more of Obama’s smoke-and-mirrors governance.
USAID—formally the United States Agency for International Development—has been around since 1961, tasked with doling out foreign aid to promote American interests abroad. Under Obama, though, it seems to have morphed into something else entirely. The Cuba operation isn’t even the half of it—Benz hinted at “deeper layers” involving contractors and micro-targeting data to manipulate both pro- and anti-government factions. It’s the kind of scheme that’d make even the most jaded Washington insider raise an eyebrow. And yet, the mainstream media, predictably, has barely batted an eyelash. Shocking, I know—about as surprising as finding out the sun rises in the east.
This revelation only bolsters the case for why we need a leader who puts America first, not one who plays global puppet master with our tax dollars. As Benz put it, the whole operation was designed “to fool the White House.” Well, guess what? The American people aren’t fooled anymore—not with Trump back in charge and patriots like Benz shining a light on the rot. Democrats can clutch their pearls all they want, but the jig is up. And honestly, couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.
