(DC Pundit) – During a recent press conference, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) made his position crystal clear on gender identity. His statement came after a reporter asked about Delaware Rep.-elect Sarah McBride (D), who is transgender.
Initially, Johnson sidestepped the question, saying he wouldn’t “get into” the topic of whether transgender individuals were men or women. He emphasized a welcoming approach, stating, “We welcome all new members with open arms, who are duly elected representatives of the people.” Johnson added, “I believe it’s a command — we treat all persons with dignity and respect.”
However, just hours later, Johnson felt compelled to clarify his stance. He addressed the media, explaining, “I was asked a question this morning at the leadership gaggle and I rejected the premise because the answer is so obvious.”
Johnson then made his position unmistakable: “For anybody who doesn’t know my well-established record on this issue, let me be unequivocally clear. A man is a man and a woman is a woman. And, a man cannot become a woman.”

Johnson’s comments align with his previously known conservative views on gender identity.
