(DC Pundit) – Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is doubling down on his support for transgender rights in the wake of Donald Trump’s recent election victory. During Transgender Awareness Week, which ran from November 12 to 19, Pritzker made his stance crystal clear.
Taking to social media platform X, Pritzker declared, “This Transgender Awareness Week, I want you to know that I see you and have your back as governor. Illinois has enshrined protections for gender-affirming care to meet this moment — and because of that, you will have a home here always.”
This isn’t Pritzker’s first rodeo when it comes to championing transgender causes. Back in 2021, he directed the Illinois Department of Human Services to implement a slew of protections for “transgender, nonbinary and gender nonconforming students.” He based this on his interpretation of the Illinois Human Rights Act of 1979.
Now, Illinois is one of those deep blue states where students can use whichever bathroom they feel comfortable with, no questions asked. The state has also given the green light for boys who identify as girls to compete in girls’ sports. Sick.

Illinois has opened up its Medicaid funding to cover certain transgender procedures for folks under 21. It’s a move that’s sure to ruffle some feathers, especially among conservatives.
It’s worth noting that this issue hits close to home for Pritzker. His cousin, James Nicholas Pritzker, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Illinois National Guard, now goes by “Jennifer” and runs a left-wing organization dishing out grants to groups supporting “gender and human sexuality.”
Fox News picked up on Pritzker’s recent announcements, highlighting how the governor is using his platform to push back against the incoming Trump administration’s potential policies.
So, what’s next for Illinois under Pritzker’s leadership? It looks like the state is gearing up to be a stronghold for transgender rights, even as the political landscape shifts at the national level. Whether you’re cheering or jeering, one thing’s for sure – Pritzker isn’t backing down from this fight anytime soon.
