(DC Pundit) – Well, here’s one for the “you can’t make this stuff up” file. William “Mullins” McLeod, a 53-year-old Democrat running for governor in South Carolina, managed to turn what should have been an uneventful evening into a bizarre, profanity-laced, half-naked spectacle that is now immortalized on police bodycam footage.
According to WCBD, McLeod was arrested back on May 15 after Charleston police found him “yelling at the top of his lungs” while wandering around downtown in nothing but his underwear and a pair of shoes. It’s the kind of image that sticks with you — and probably not the way his campaign had in mind.

The Charleston Police Department released the one-hour video on August 12 after a Freedom of Information Act request. The footage shows McLeod screaming, throwing around slurs, and making grandiose declarations about his identity — comparing himself at various points to God and Superman.
“I’m one of the most just humans to ever walk this soil,” he proclaimed from the back of a patrol car. Moments later came the gem: “I’m Superman, godd*mn it.”

He went on an insane unhinged rant, screamed profanities, threatened to “kick teeth in” of rivals, and yelled at cops.

McLeod, a married father of four, didn’t stop there. At one point, he turned his verbal fire toward Republican rivals, including current South Carolina Attorney General and fellow gubernatorial candidate Alan Wilson. His message for Wilson? “I’m gonna kick your f**king teeth in!” — which, I’m sure, is exactly how you win over undecided voters.
When the patrol car arrived at the Al Cannon Detention Center, the candidate decided to stage a one-man sit-in — or rather, a “lay-in.” He refused to get out, telling officers, “I’m not getting out of this car. It’s time to go to bed.” Because nothing says “serious political contender” quite like a pajama protest in the back of a police cruiser.
WCBD also obtained the preliminary incident report, which stated McLeod’s eyes were “extremely bloodshot and highly dilated,” leading officers to believe he was “under the influence of a stimulant narcotic.” Whether he was tested for substances remains unclear.
For now, McLeod is facing misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct. But politically, the damage may be far more severe. South Carolina isn’t exactly known for embracing candidates who parade around downtown in their skivvies while threatening political opponents.
Only in 2025, folks.
