(DC Pundit) – A federal judge in Oregon decided Saturday that law and order apparently takes a backseat to political theater, blocking President Trump’s National Guard deployment to Portland just as chaos was once again breaking out in the streets.
Judge Karin Immergut, ironically a Trump appointee, issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the president’s decision to send troops to protect federal agents and property. In her ruling, Immergut went so far as to warn that Trump’s decision could lead to a “constitutional crisis.” Translation: enforcing the law might be too effective for some politicians’ liking.
The Trump Administration wasted no time, filing a midnight appeal to overturn the ruling — and with good reason. The president had authorized National Guard troops to deploy to Portland and other Democrat-run cities last weekend, following repeated attacks on ICE agents and federal facilities by Antifa extremists and other far-left agitators.

The president’s move came after years of Portland officials turning a blind eye to anarchy, graffiti-covered government buildings, and businesses reduced to ashes.
Predictably, Oregon’s Democrat establishment went into meltdown mode. The state promptly sued the Trump Administration, with Democrat Governor Tina Kotek proudly declaring her opposition to restoring peace and order. She demanded the president “stand down” and keep federal troops out of her state — a bold position considering the ongoing chaos her policies have allowed to thrive. Kotek, like many progressive leaders, seems more offended by the presence of federal agents than by the mobs burning down their own neighborhoods.
While lawyers were filing motions and politicians were grandstanding, Antifa and their far-left allies were once again taking over Portland’s streets Saturday night. Videos from the scene showed black-clad agitators blocking roads, setting fires, and harassing police — the same tired routine Portlanders have endured for years.

It’s worth noting that Portland’s descent into lawlessness didn’t happen overnight. Under Democrat leadership, the city has become a national punchline for failed progressive policies — where police are vilified, criminals are coddled, and taxpayers are left to foot the bill for destruction they didn’t cause.
Trump’s deployment order was a clear attempt to stop the madness, protect ICE agents, and prevent federal facilities from becoming targets of yet another violent mob.

The question every reasonable American should ask is simple: who’s really creating the “constitutional crisis” — the president enforcing the law, or the politicians and judges who refuse to let him?
