(DC Pundit) – FBI Director Kash Patel has reportedly removed one of the Bureau’s top agents involved in the controversial Operation Arctic Frost: a taxpayer-funded political hit job that many conservatives view as one of the ugliest abuses of power in recent memory.
For those who need a refresher, Arctic Frost was the Biden Justice Department’s fishing expedition launched back in April 2022, targeting President Donald Trump and dozens of his associates. The operation seized government-issued phones belonging to Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence, while agents scoured the country conducting interviews in what was clearly an attempt to dig up, or manufacture, dirt.
And now, the fallout has begun. According to MSNBC, Patel has ousted Aaron Tapp, the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s San Antonio Field Office and one of the key figures overseeing Arctic Frost. Tapp’s name surfaced in a batch of internal FBI documents recently released by Senate Republicans and Patel wasted no time showing him the door.

Tapp’s résumé reads like a bureaucratic love letter to the deep state. On his LinkedIn page, he describes himself as a “Senior FBI Executive with more than twenty-seven years of combined experience leading people, conducting and supervising complex investigations, and engaging in collaborative partnership across government and the private sector.” He boasts of “driving organizational and cultural change through innovation, transparency, communication and partnership.” Translation: he’s been around long enough to learn how to play politics inside the Bureau.
Patel’s decision to remove Tapp marks a major shift in the Bureau’s leadership, and it’s about time. The FBI’s credibility has been eroding for years, largely due to politically motivated investigations like Arctic Frost and the infamous Russiagate debacle. The same cast of characters seems to pop up again and again, each time promising “justice” while conveniently targeting conservatives.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley isn’t letting this one slide, either. On Wednesday, he revealed that former Special Counsel Jack Smith had “targeted the entire Republican apparatus.” Grassley said new disclosures show Smith’s team went after conservative groups such as Turning Point USA and the Republican Attorneys General Association.
“I’ve obtained through legally protected whistleblower disclosures,” Grassley remarked during a press conference. “197 subpoenas were issued by Jack Smith and his team. These subpoenas were issued to 34 individuals and 163 businesses, including financial institutions.”
