(DC Pundit) – Barbra Streisand, queen of Hollywood liberalism and longtime member of the Trump Derangement Syndrome Choir, is back, this time to let us know that President Donald J. Trump may have subconsciously influenced her new album. Yes, seriously.
Streisand, now 82, is rolling out The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2, a duets project featuring musical legends like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Sting, and Seal. But instead of just talking about the music, she made sure to remind everyone that she’s still completely obsessed with Trump. In an interview with the Associated Press, Streisand admitted her song choices might’ve been impacted by her never-ending anxiety over Trump’s return to the White House.
“I’d like to be happier,” Streisand lamented. “But every time I turn on the television—and I’m a glutton for punishment, obviously—I’m fascinated and horrified at the same time, you know?” Yes, Barbra, we do know. Every Trump-hating celebrity seems to say the exact same thing, as if watching cable news while sipping wine in a California mansion is some form of resistance activism.
Streisand recounted a recent dinner with Democrat Senator Cory Booker, who apparently delivered the poetic line that Washington under Trump is defined by “created chaos, corruption and cruelty.” To which Streisand responded, “I thought, ‘That kind of sums him [Trump] up.’” How original.
Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised. Streisand has spent the better part of the last decade treating every Trump tweet like it’s a personal attack on her vocal cords. She’s written songs, posted rants, and even released a 2018 album, Walls, filled with tracks dedicated to her anti-Trump rage. That album included the lyrical masterpiece “Don’t Lie to Me,” where she demanded, “How do you sleep when the world is burning?” Clearly, she’s been burning up inside ever since 2016.
Her latest album includes heavy, moody ballads like Sting’s “Fragile” and Seal’s “Love Will Survive.” Not exactly summer barbecue material. But if you’re panicked about Trump’s second term, maybe sad songs are all you’ve got left.
She says she wants to “spend the rest of my life with people I love,” which likely excludes about half the country who voted for Trump and probably includes whoever is willing to listen to her talk about “democracy” for hours over dinner.
Streisand didn’t just “subconsciously” let Trump into her creative process. He lives in her head rent-free, redecorated the place, and now curates her Spotify playlist. You’d think someone with a career as successful as hers could write a song about anything but Donald Trump. But no, he’s still the main character in her political soap opera.
The takeaway here? Even when he’s not in the room, President Trump continues to shape the culture, dominate the headlines, and unintentionally direct the soundtrack of liberal Hollywood.
That’s showbiz, folks.
