(DC Pundit) – Minnesota’s latest legislative circus saw Democratic Rep. Alicia Kozlowski take the floor with a speech so over-the-top, it could’ve been ripped straight from a dystopian novel—or maybe just a really bad reality TV script. Debating House File 12, dubbed the Preserving Girls’ Sports Act, Kozlowski didn’t just oppose the Republican-backed bill; she branded it as “state-sponsored bullying and genocide” aimed at “erasing” trans and non-binary kids. Because apparently, asking boys not to dominate girls’ basketball teams is the modern equivalent of historical atrocities. Hyperbole much?
“They aren’t going to stop being transgender just because you strip them from sports or from housing or from their healthcare or any other public place that you don’t want us to be,” Kozlowski remarked on Monday, as if the bill was about banishing people to a deserted island rather than keeping sports fair. “Make no mistake that this is just another version of state-sponsored bullying and genocide.” Look, we get it—emotions run high. But equating a sports eligibility rule with mass extermination? That’s a stretch even a yoga guru couldn’t pull off.
Kozlowski, who proudly touts being “the first non-binary/Two Spirit person” elected to Minnesota’s legislature on their campaign site, got personal. “For me, growing up as an indigenous kid with the deck stacked against me, for me, this bill is incredibly personal,” they said. Fair enough—sports can be a lifeline. Kozlowski reminisced about basketball, soccer, broomball, and lacrosse, adding, “It was also an inlet for me through the beautiful game of soccer that I was able to step into my fullest self as a two-spirit person, to get back into my body after experiencing violence.” No one’s denying the value of athletics. But the bill isn’t about banning kids from sports—it’s about ensuring girls aren’t sidelined by biological males with a physical edge.
The House rejected the bill 67-66, with all Democrats against it and all but one Republican—Majority Leader Harry Niska—in favor. Niska’s “no” vote wasn’t betrayal; it was a slick parliamentary move. “As Majority Leader, it is my job to join Democrats in voting against the Republican bill,” he explained, allowing a motion to reconsider later. Translation: the fight’s not over, folks.
Minnesota Democrat State Rep Alisha Kozlowski says keeping men out of women’s sports is “state-sanctioned bullying, and genocide.”

27 states, including Alabama, Texas, and Florida already have laws keeping sports aligned with biological sex, not feelings. And under President Trump, who’s back in the Oval Office after a roaring reelection, the feds pushed an executive order to yank funding from schools that let boys steal girls’ trophies. Why? Because science isn’t woke. USA Powerlifting notes men’s advantages—muscle mass, bone density, connective tissue. Just ask Lia Thomas, who went from meh on Penn’s men’s swim team to shattering women’s records after switching sides.
Yes, sports matter. But crying “genocide”… That’s not a slam dunk—it’s a flagrant foul. With Trump leading the charge, conservatives know the real erasure here is of girls’ chances to win.
