(DC Pundit) – Former President Barack Obama has once again decided to weigh in on current events, this time urging Americans to rally behind what he described as “peaceful protests” in Minneapolis — protests that, inconveniently, have coincided with violence against federal law enforcement and the deaths of two Americans. It’s a bold characterization, to put it mildly.
“Every American should support and draw inspiration from the wave of peaceful protests in Minneapolis,” Obama wrote in a statement Sunday.
Peaceful? Yeah ok — if your definition of “peaceful” now means aggressive street actions, storming churches, clashing with federal officers, and the sort of scenes no reasonable person would confuse for a candlelight vigil.
Obama’s statement framed the unrest as a noble, defensive response to what he portrayed as an overreaching federal government. In his telling, the protests are not confrontational actions aimed at obstructing law enforcement, but rather an organic expression of civic virtue. Critics, however, note that these demonstrations have increasingly resembled aggressive, Antifa-style provoke-blame-escalate campaigns, complete with physical obstruction of officers attempting to enforce federal law.

As the statement continued, Obama’s tone shifted even further left, echoing rhetoric commonly associated with radical activist groups. These factions — many openly backed or excused by prominent Democrats — have engaged in what amounts to organized resistance against the lawful enforcement of federal statutes, including immigration laws and laws targeting welfare fraud. That resistance is now being openly celebrated, despite the fact that President Donald Trump was elected with a clear popular mandate to enforce those very laws.
Obama went on to demand that President Trump essentially ignore that mandate, disregard polling, and sideline his political base in favor of allowing Minnesota Democratic officials and their allied activists to dictate the limits of law enforcement in the state. This demand comes as both Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey face investigations into their possible role in a welfare fraud scandal — an awkward backdrop for lectures about governance and accountability.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault. pic.twitter.com/0JmEsJ1QFW

The irony deepens when considering the broader record. Obama’s allies and deputies — most notably former Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas — oversaw the importation of roughly 20 million legal and illegal migrants during the twelve years spanning the Obama and Biden administrations. That approach produced predictable strain on housing, wages, and public services.
By contrast, Trump’s enforcement of long-ignored immigration laws has delivered tangible benefits. Wages are up, rents are down, inflation is declining, crime is dropping, and corporations are investing heavily in ways that help Americans become more productive and earn more per working hour. These outcomes didn’t happen by accident; they followed a deliberate return to enforcing laws already on the books.

Publicly! On video!
This isn’t normal, and pretending otherwise is beyond absurd.

For Obama, however, Trump’s policies are a disaster — because they derail Obama’s long-standing vision of using mass migration to transform the nation into what he once framed as a grand social “experiment” testing whether democracy can survive the version of diversity favored by progressives. Americans, having lived through the results of that experiment, appear to have reached their own conclusion at the ballot box.
And no amount of rebranding riots as “peaceful protests” is likely to change that.
