(DC Pundit) – It looks like one of the original architects of the Russia collusion hoax is finally feeling the heat, and it’s about time. Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper appeared on CNN this week and dropped a little nugget that should tell you everything you need to know: He’s “lawyered up.”
That’s not the sort of thing someone says when they’re completely confident in their innocence.
Clapper, who helped drag this country through a multi-year political nightmare built on a lie, sat down with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins and tried to play the victim card. When asked whether he was worried about being prosecuted by the Trump administration, Clapper responded, “I don’t know of an intelligence product that was more scrutinized, more investigated than that product was by numerous people. It’s very disconcerting, it really is, and I take seriously when the President of the United States accuses me of being a participant in a treasonous conspiracy, which is ridiculous.”

Sure, “ridiculous”—except it’s not. The American people remember exactly what Clapper and his cronies did. They remember the endless leaks, the media manipulation, and the outright smear campaign launched against President Trump before he even took office the first time. Clapper wasn’t just a bystander. He was a key player in the effort to delegitimize a sitting president using the power of the intelligence community and a phony dossier funded by Democrats.

And now, with Trump back in office, the people who played dirty are understandably sweating bullets. Tulsi Gabbard, who has emerged as one of the most fearless voices calling out corruption on both sides of the aisle, isn’t letting this one go. She’s made it crystal clear that the truth still matters, and that those who weaponized their offices for political warfare shouldn’t get a free pass.
Clapper wasn’t just wrong, he was deliberate. The claim that he did “nothing wrong” is laughable when you consider the lives and reputations that were dragged through the mud as a result of the Russia hoax. Michael Flynn, Carter Page, and many others were targeted without evidence, all while Clapper and his pals smiled for the cameras and acted like patriots.
But accountability is finally knocking at the door. The fact that Clapper felt the need to lawyer up tells you one thing loud and clear: he knows the walls are closing in.
And we’re just getting started.
