(DC Pundit) – An armed man arrested Aug. 2 at President Donald Trump’s California golf course allegedly carried first lady Melania Trump’s schedule along with detailed information about U.S. Secret Service personnel, according to reports.

Jeanine John Taele, 38, had more than 200 pages of writings that included schedules for the first lady and members of the president’s USSS detail, The Associated Press reported, citing information revealed during a Los Angeles County court hearing Wednesday. The New York Post reported that prosecutors said Taele had seven notebooks containing 208 pages of drawings and sketches of Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, lists of USSS schedules, details about individual security personnel and copies of Melania Trump’s schedule.

Los Angeles County Judge John Lonergan Jr. called the allegations “alarming” during Wednesday’s hearing. “This case itself is alarming in this day and age with the violence that is creeping into our everyday lives, especially with our partisanship in the political environment” ahead of the midterms, Lonergan said.

It’s a good thing this man was caught. This could have ended very badly. President Trump has already survived multiple attempts on his life, and the idea that someone showed up at his golf course armed with the first lady’s schedule and Secret Service personnel details is the kind of threat that keeps security teams awake at night. The notebooks full of sketches of the club and lists of agents’ schedules do not suggest a casual visitor. They suggest someone who had done his homework.

Conservatives have watched for years as political violence and rhetoric have grown more heated, particularly when directed at Trump and those around him. The judge’s own words about partisanship and the violence creeping into everyday life capture the atmosphere many on the right have been pointing out while much of the media treats such incidents as isolated curiosities rather than part of a pattern. Melania Trump, as first lady, should not have to worry about her private schedule ending up in the hands of an armed individual casing the president’s golf course.

The fact that authorities stopped this before anything worse happened is a credit to the Secret Service and local law enforcement. Still, the recovery of more than 200 pages of detailed writings, including the first lady’s schedule and specific information on security personnel, underscores just how close these situations can come. With midterms approaching and the political temperature remaining high, cases like this serve as a reminder that the threats against the Trump family are real and ongoing.

(DC Pundit) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has once again shown her talent for reading the room among Democrats, this time by declaring the party’s lurch toward radical socialism a positive development. Speaking Monday in a conversation with the Hamptons Institute, Clinton labeled the current “experiment” within the Democratic Party as “healthy.”

“The Democratic Party right now is, I think, going through a kind of experiment, like who can actually respond particularly to young people’s very real concerns about where they are at this point in their lives and what kind of future do they have for themselves? I think that is healthy,” she said.

Clinton, ever eager to stay in step with the latest leftward shift, delivered these remarks as democratic socialist candidates continue challenging establishment Democrats in primaries across the country. The moderator had asked her about the party’s future amid what was described as a “major upheaval between center-left and democratic socialists.”

How exactly is embracing a failed ideology healthy? Socialism has a long track record of producing shortages, economic stagnation, and misery wherever it has been tried seriously. From the Soviet Union to modern examples that left-wing activists prefer not to discuss, the results speak for themselves. Yet Clinton frames the rise of candidates pushing these ideas as a thoughtful response to young voters’ anxieties.

This is classic Clinton: always positioning herself as attuned to the newest trend inside the party, even when that trend involves recycling economic theories that history has repeatedly rejected. Plenty of Democrats have rushed to associate themselves with the socialist wing to appear relevant. Clinton’s version simply adds a veneer of elder-statesman wisdom to the same impulse.

Her comments arrive as the Democratic Party continues searching for ways to connect with younger voters while its more extreme elements gain ground. Calling that process “healthy” may play well in certain circles, but it does little to address the practical failures of the policies those candidates promote. Conservatives watching this spectacle are left wondering how much further left the party must go before someone in its leadership finally notices the pattern.

Clinton’s assessment may satisfy progressive activists, but it offers no serious answer to the question of whether repeating the mistakes of the past somehow becomes wise simply because it appeals to a particular demographic.

(DC Pundit) – For years, anyone who dared raise questions about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) immigration history was swiftly branded a bigot, a conspiracy theorist, or some knuckle-dragging right-winger with nothing better to do.

Well, it turns out the federal government has something better to do, and it involves a Freedom of Information Act request, a federal law-enforcement exemption, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement refusing to hand over records because doing so could interfere with active “enforcement proceedings.”

The long-standing allegations center on claims that Omar entered into a fraudulent marriage with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who some allege is her biological brother, in order to help him secure legal status in the United States. Omar has repeatedly denied the accusation, calling it a “bigoted lie,” and insisting she committed no crime.

But here’s the thing, ICE isn’t exactly taking her word for it.

When Just the News filed a FOIA request in January seeking documents related to any ICE investigation into the alleged fraud, the agency invoked 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(7)(A), the exemption that protects law-enforcement records when disclosure could compromise an active investigation or proceeding. “Disclosure of any responsive records at this time could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings,” ICE wrote.

That’s the clearest official signal yet that federal scrutiny of Omar is very much alive.

Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan had already confirmed in December that he’d ordered Omar’s immigration records pulled for review. “We’re pulling the records, we’re pulling the files, and we’re looking at it,” Homan said, adding that an experienced Homeland Security fraud investigator had previously reviewed the file and raised serious concerns.

Then in March, Vice President JD Vance poured fuel on the fire when he revealed the White House fraud task force was examining the allegations. “We actually think that Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” Vance said flatly. Two months later, Vance confirmed the Justice Department had also joined the review, though he was careful to add: “If we think that there’s a crime, we’re going to prosecute that crime.”

Omar, who was born in Somalia, came to the U.S. in 1995 and became a citizen in 2000. She legally married Elmi in 2009 and divorced him in 2017. No DNA evidence or court ruling has conclusively established the alleged biological relationship.

What has been established, however, is this: the Trump administration isn’t buying the “right-wing conspiracy theory” defense, and neither, apparently, is ICE.

(DC Pundit) – As Bill Clinton marked his 80th birthday on August 19th, a report from RadarOnline has raised fresh questions about the former president’s health, claiming that Hillary Clinton has begun making arrangements for an eventual funeral service, while Bill himself is reportedly reviewing his estate and potentially updating a will said to be worth $120 million.

The report relies on unnamed insiders, and it is worth noting upfront that funeral planning for former presidents is not necessarily an indicator of imminent medical crisis. A Washington National Cathedral spokesperson confirmed to Radar that all living former presidents have state funeral plans under development.

That said, the context surrounding these reports makes them difficult to dismiss entirely.

According to Radar, Hillary’s tentative plans include a traditional funeral service at Washington National Cathedral, followed by burial at or near the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas. One presidential historian cited by the outlet suggested Clinton could even request to be buried near the library’s rooftop garden, described as one of his favorite personal retreats.

Clinton’s public appearances in recent years have drawn increasing concern. Even People magazine has acknowledged that the former president has appeared “more visibly frail” in recent years. During a June 2025 book-signing event, Clinton appeared unsteady, at one point grabbing a pole to stabilize himself as he approached the building. Just two months later, his entourage was observed carrying a Propaq MD medical bag, containing a portable patient monitor and defibrillator, as Bill and Hillary departed the Hamptons. That sighting renewed questions about his cardiac health that have followed him for decades.

Clinton’s medical history is extensive and well-documented. He underwent quadruple-bypass surgery in 2004 after doctors discovered significant arterial blockages. He had a second operation in 2005 for a partially collapsed lung, and received two coronary stents in 2010. In October 2021, he spent nearly a week at UC Irvine Medical Center after a urinary tract infection spread to his bloodstream. In December 2024, he was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital after developing a fever, though he was released the following day after treatment for the flu.

Despite these challenges, Clinton has continued making public appearances, including attending the Obama Presidential Center dedication in June.

Radar also reported that Clinton may have made changes to his $120 million will, with the suggestion that there could be “surprises” regarding its beneficiaries, though no specifics were provided.

Whatever one’s views of Bill Clinton’s presidency or his party, the reality of a former president’s declining years is a serious issue. We wish the former president well.

(DC Pundit) – Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has been cleared of criminal charges by the state’s Democratic Attorney General in a pay-to-play investigation involving hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from a major state contractor, and if you’re shocked by that outcome, you haven’t been paying attention to how Democrats protect their own.

Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Friday that her office would not bring criminal charges against Hobbs over her administration’s dealings with Sunshine Residential Homes. Let’s walk through the numbers, because they are genuinely staggering.

Sunshine donated $200,000 to the Arizona Democratic Party ahead of Hobbs’ contested 2022 victory over Republican Kari Lake. The company then contributed $100,000 to Hobbs’ inaugural fund and another $100,000 to the state Democratic Party in August 2023. Company founder Simon Kottoor and his wife also donated a combined $10,000 directly to Hobbs’ gubernatorial campaigns. Total donations to Democratic causes and Hobbs specifically: $410,000.

What did Sunshine get in return? After the company’s initial requests for a rate increase were rejected, it received a 30 percent reimbursement hike in May 2023, less than six months after Hobbs took office, taking its payment from $149 to $195 per foster-care bed. Sunshine was one of only two providers granted an increase during that entire contracting period.

Hobbs has denied any wrongdoing and claims she played no role in approving the rate increase. She declined to sit for an interview with investigators, choosing instead to submit written statements through her attorneys.

Mayes insists the evidence did not meet the threshold for bribery. “After two years of investigation, consisting of multiple interviews, reviews of campaign-finance records, procurement records, bank documents, and State emails and chats, totaling over one terabyte of data, including more than 100,000 documents, the investigation has not uncovered any evidence of the necessary quid pro quo to support a bribery charge,” she said in a statement.

A Democratic attorney general investigated a Democratic governor and found no evidence of wrongdoing. What a shock.

The story does not end here, however. A separate investigation involving Republican Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell and Arizona’s auditor general remains active and ongoing. That investigation operates outside the protective umbrella of a Democratic AG’s office, which means the scrutiny on Hobbs is not finished.

Hobbs is running for a second four-year term as governor and will face Republican Representative Andy Biggs in November.

(DC Pundit) – Jill Biden has a new theory about what happened during the June 2024 presidential debate that effectively ended her husband’s political career and sent the Democratic Party into a full-blown panic spiral. And it is something else.

During a recent podcast interview with host Jamie Kern Lima, the former First Lady entertained the possibility that Joe Biden may have been drugged before his catastrophic debate performance against Donald Trump, the debate so bad that Democrats and their media allies immediately began calling for Biden to abandon his reelection campaign.

Lima asked Jill Biden whether doctors had ruled out a stroke on the night of the debate. Jill’s response was telling. “Well, they did. They said, I mean, I didn’t say to them, when I was writing my book, I was reflecting, but I didn’t say, ‘God, did Joe have a stroke?’ I just said, ‘Is he OK? Is he OK?'” she said.

When Lima pressed her on what her gut told her happened that night, Jill said she simply did not know. “I mean, there’s all kinds of theories, you know, he had been traveling,” she said. “I know he was tired, he didn’t feel well that day, when I saw him, but there was nothing definitive that I could point to. And I had been on the road for two weeks up until that moment. So, I wasn’t with him. I didn’t see him days before, weeks before. I saw him maybe one hour before.”

Then Lima asked the question that produced the most stunning response of the interview: “There’s no way anyone could have, God forbid, laced his drink or something?”

Jill Biden’s answer: “Who knows? Who knows?”

Who knows? The former First Lady of the United States is publicly entertaining the possibility that her husband was poisoned before a nationally televised debate rather than acknowledging what tens of millions of Americans watched with their own eyes for 90 minutes.

Here is what is far more likely: Joe Biden performed the way he did because his cognitive decline, the same decline that Jill Biden has since acknowledged in interviews while laughing about covering it up, had progressed to the point where he could no longer function effectively in a high-pressure, unscripted environment. The man who shuffled across debate stages, lost his train of thought mid-sentence, and stared blankly into the distance was not the victim of a poisoning. He was an elderly man whose mental acuity had been deteriorating for years while his wife and the Democratic Party machine worked to keep that fact hidden from the American public.

The drugging theory is not just implausible, it is an insult to the intelligence of every American who watched that debate and knew exactly what they were seeing. Jill Biden helped put that man on that stage. “Who knows?” is not an acceptable answer.

(DC Pundit) – Picture this: you have just spent years preparing your child for college. You load the car, make the drive, and pull up to the university housing, only to find rows of tents, mountains of trash, and a sprawling homeless encampment directly behind where your kid is going to be living for the next year.

That is exactly what happened to one California mother when she dropped her son off at UC Berkeley, and she made sure the world knew about it.

TV reporter and mom Lyanne Melendez pulled out her phone and documented what she found along the 1150 block of Harrison Street, near student housing and businesses frequented by students, less than three miles from the university’s main campus. She then posted the video directly to X, tagging the city and the university.

“I just dropped my son off at @UCBerkeley housing and as we were approaching we saw this behind his apartments. Shame on @CityofBerkeley @CityofAlbanyCA @UCBerkeleyNews,” Melendez wrote.

The California Post visited the area and confirmed what the video showed, numerous tents and makeshift shelters packed closely together near a Tesla service facility, surrounded by significant amounts of personal belongings and debris. Some areas had so little open space that pedestrians had difficulty passing through. Tarps and materials were spread throughout the encampment in every direction.

Out-of-state tuition at UC Berkeley runs approximately $50,000 per year with room and board. Fifty thousand dollars a year, and the university cannot be bothered to ensure that students arriving for their first day of college are not greeted by a scene that looks like a third-world disaster zone.

Berkeley is no stranger to this problem. The city has been engaged in a long-running legal battle over homeless encampments, including a dispute specifically involving the intersection of Harrison Street and Eighth Street, the very area where Melendez filmed her video. The encampment has been a known issue. The city and university have simply chosen not to resolve it.

This is what decades of progressive governance produces. California has poured billions of dollars into homelessness programs. With what results to show for it? Meanwhile, universities like Berkeley continue raising tuition, expanding their administrative bureaucracies, and promoting radical left-wing ideology, while parents paying $50,000 a year drop their children off next to tent cities.

College enrollment is declining nationally as more Americans question whether the return on investment justifies the cost. UC Berkeley is making that question very easy to answer.
