(DC Pundit) – Commercial truck safety isn’t exactly a topic that gets people fired up at the dinner table, but maybe it should be. A recent enforcement operation conducted by Florida Highway Patrol and partner agencies produced results alarming enough to make even the most casual commuter think twice about sharing the highway with an 80,000-pound semi-truck.

Over four days, Florida Highway Patrol and partner agencies inspected more than 3,300 commercial vehicles, ultimately pulling 176 drivers off the road entirely. Among those removed from service, 35 were arrested on criminal charges and 42 were nabbed on immigration violations.

The safety deficiencies uncovered were jaw-dropping. “The most dangerous things we see are cracked brakes and broken airlines,” Major Tom Pikul of Florida Highway Patrol explained. “If there is an air release in a brake line, they have no brakes.” No functioning brakes. On public highways. Fantastic.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Mark Glass flagged another deeply troubling discovery — identification problems that defy belief. “Some of the driver’s licenses that we would find wouldn’t even have a name on the CDL — literally no name,” he revealed. No name. On a commercial driver’s license.

One particularly hair-raising incident involved a driver from Uzbekistan, living in New York, who was caught weaving across lanes on Interstate 75. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.27 — seven times the legal limit for commercial drivers — with alcohol found right in the front seat. Body camera footage showed the driver had limited English comprehension.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has had enough. He recently finalized a rule banning unqualified foreign drivers from obtaining commercial licenses. “For far too long, America has allowed dangerous foreign drivers to abuse our truck licensing systems — wreaking havoc on our roadways. This safety loophole ends today,” Duffy said.

Under President Trump’s administration, common sense is finally making a comeback on American highways.

(DC Pundit) – Eric Swalwell, the California Democratic congressman best known for his brief, embarrassing 2020 presidential run and his infamous encounter with a suspected Chinese spy, is now facing a crisis that makes those episodes look minor by comparison.

Las Vegas casino and timeshare mogul Stephen Cloobeck, who once affectionately called Swalwell his “little brother” and poured over $1 million into his California gubernatorial campaign, has dramatically severed all ties with the congressman and shown him the door of his lavish $26 million Beverly Hills mansion. Cloobeck is now demanding every dollar back, following explosive allegations that Swalwell sexually assaulted multiple women, including a former staffer who claims the Democrat raped her while she was too drunk to consent, according to the New York Post.

The Beverly Hills property on Roxbury Drive is no modest hideaway. The 9,700-square-foot estate features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a tennis court, double gates, and luxury artwork that Swalwell had been using as a backdrop for social media videos and TV interviews. Congressional records show he visited the mansion on at least 10 different days since September, missing House floor votes on at least three of those days. For context, Swalwell missed more votes in 2025 than any other active member of Congress — more than even the late Rep. Raúl Grijalva, who passed away in March. Priorities, apparently.

Cloobeck had previously spent $31,000 flying Swalwell to Nice, France, and had openly declared, “That’s my backdrop. Mi casa, su casa.” That hospitality has now come to a screeching halt.

The billionaire didn’t stop at cutting off Swalwell. He torched the entire Democratic Party, declaring, “F— the Democratic Party… I’m a libertarian now.” He followed up with, “I’m going to change my god d— party affiliation, because I cannot stand this Democratic Party at all… I am done. Finito.”

Shortly after, Swalwell suspended his California gubernatorial campaign amid mounting sexual misconduct allegations from at least four women.

(DC Pundit) – Failed presidential candidate and former Vice President Kamala Harris apparently decided that impersonating President Donald Trump was a good idea. Spoiler alert: it was not.

During a forum with the National Action Network, the organization founded by the ever-controversial Al Sharpton, Harris launched into what she seemingly believed was a devastating impression of the president, complete with a brand-new accent added to her already impressive collection.

“You know, the way that he’s thinking of foreign policy, it seems, is when he talks about America First, it’s to withdraw from these relationships and these connections,” Harris said, before really swinging for the fences. “And then he kind of acts like a mob boss. So, then he’s kind of like, ‘Oh, well, you know, you take Eastern Europe, and I’ll take the Western Hemisphere. And then you over there, you, you get Asia, and we’ll just divide it up,’ right?”

Right. Sure. That happened.

The internet, to no one’s surprise, was not impressed.

A former Republican staffer for Sen. Ted Cruz compiled her Friday performance alongside her other greatest impression hits, creating what might be the most painful highlight reel in political history.

Harris seems to be having a difficult time accepting that her moment in the spotlight has passed. Rather than gracefully stepping off the stage, she’s out here doing mob boss impressions for Al Sharpton’s crowd. If this is her strategy for staying politically relevant, Republicans everywhere should be encouraging her to keep it up.

(DC Pundit) – Hunter Biden has apparently decided that America just isn’t doing it for him anymore. According to reporting from The Daily Mail, the former first son has quietly packed up and left the country, and to add a cherry on top of this spectacular sundae of poor life choices, he’s reportedly $17 million in debt.

One has to wonder, why doesn’t Hunter just sell a few pieces of his world-renowned artwork? Funny how that works.

The exact location of Biden’s current residence remains unconfirmed, though last March he was photographed with his wife, Melissa Cohen, in South Africa — her home country. Investigative journalist Laura Loomer previously obtained photos of Hunter, Melissa, and their young son Beau enjoying a lavish Cape Town vacation, with U.S. Secret Service agents conveniently along for the ride, all on the taxpayer’s dime.

President Trump put a swift end to that arrangement. “Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance. Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection.”

Trump also pulled protection from Ashley Biden, who had 13 agents assigned to her.

Meanwhile, Hunter’s legal troubles continue mounting. His former law firm, Winston & Strawn, which defended him in his tax and gun crimes cases, is suing him for unpaid bills “substantially in excess of $50,000.” A court filing submitted April 6th in Washington, D.C. bluntly states, “Mr. Biden lives abroad,” and argues he simply “cannot afford” to settle his outstanding fees. Hunter himself admitted on a podcast last year that he was carrying “$17 million of debt.”

For a man once living large on the family name, things have taken quite a turn.

(DC Pundit) – It’s been a rough week in the world of conservative media, and President Trump has had just about enough of it. After a string of public broadsides from several high-profile right-leaning commentators, Trump fired back on Thursday, and he didn’t exactly reach for the diplomatic playbook.

Trump called out Candace Owens, Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, and Megyn Kelly, labeling the group “Low IQ” and “stupid.” Strong words, but given what each of them said this week, it’s not hard to see what set him off.

Alex Jones, the Infowars host who has spent years positioning himself as a fierce Trump ally, sat down with attorney Robert Barnes this week to discuss how the 25th Amendment could be used to remove President Trump from office. Yes, really. The same man who built an empire railing against the deep state spent part of his week mapping out a path to oust the sitting president.

Candace Owens, the conservative commentator and podcast host, declared this week that she is embarrassed for having told people to vote for President Trump. That’s quite the public reversal from someone who spent years as one of his most recognizable champions.

Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News anchor turned independent media figure, reportedly urged White House staffers to resist President Trump’s orders. The man who built a massive following criticizing the establishment apparently decided this week to encourage exactly the kind of internal resistance he once condemned.

And Megyn Kelly, the veteran broadcaster and podcast host, went after Trump following this comment regarding Iran, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” What Kelly conveniently left out of her dramatic monologue is that Trump was clearly directing his warning at the terrorist leadership and radical regime running Iran, not the Iranian people themselves, many of whom have spent years risking their lives protesting against that very government.

Whatever one thinks of Trump’s policies, it’s a notable spectacle watching some of the biggest names in conservative media spend a week taking turns swinging at the president their audiences helped elect. Trump, being Trump, swung right back.

(DC Pundit) – For decades, America’s most prestigious universities have been cashing checks from some of the world’s most hostile foreign governments — and doing so with barely a whisper of accountability. Thanks to the Trump administration, that party may finally be over.

Newly released Department of Education data reveals that U.S. higher education institutions have accepted a staggering $72.1 billion in foreign funding since federal disclosure requirements took effect in 1986. In 2025 alone, colleges and universities reported roughly 8,300 foreign transactions totaling $5.2 billion. Let that sink in for a moment.

The biggest all-time foreign donor was Qatar at $8.8 billion, followed by China at $6.8 billion, Germany at $4.9 billion, Saudi Arabia at $4.4 billion, and England at $4.3 billion. In 2025 specifically, Qatar accounted for $1.1 billion, while China contributed $528 million. Harvard has accepted $4.5 billion in foreign funding since 1986, Cornell $4.2 billion, Carnegie Mellon $3.9 billion, MIT $3.7 billion, and the University of Pennsylvania $2.9 billion.

It gets worse. Nearly $405 million was transferred to American universities by foreign entities that have been sanctioned by the U.S. government — including Russia’s Skolkovo Foundation and multiple Chinese institutions tied directly to the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army, such as Huawei Technologies and Sun Yat-sen University. So the same universities hosting “social justice” seminars and lecturing everyone about American foreign policy were quietly pocketing cash from communist China and sanctioned Russian entities. Remarkable.

President Trump moved to confront this mess directly, signing an executive order last April requiring full transparency on foreign influence at American universities. The order declared that protecting America’s educational, cultural, and national security interests requires complete disclosure and an end to the secrecy surrounding foreign funds in higher education.

“The American people now have unprecedented visibility into the foreign dollars flowing into our colleges and universities — including funding from countries and entities that are involved in activities that threaten America’s national security,” Education Secretary Linda McMahon stated following the data release.

Since January 20, 2025, the Department of Education has launched four new Section 117 investigations into Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, UC Berkeley, and the University of Michigan. This mirrors the aggressive enforcement of Trump’s first term, which uncovered billions in previously unreported foreign funds — efforts that were quietly shelved during the Biden years. Shocker.

What the Trump administration has exposed is a national scandal decades in the making.
