(DC Pundit) – Kamala Harris, the former Vice President who suffered one of the more memorable electoral defeats in political history, has apparently decided that losing the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump was merely a suggestion and not a reason to stop issuing declarations about what the President of the United States can and cannot do.

Harris recently announced that “we cannot allow” President Trump to appoint additional justices to the United States Supreme Court. Which raises one very obvious question: who exactly is “we,” and what authority does Kamala Harris have over anything at this point?

Her statement came in response to a New York Times piece featuring quotes from the far-left activist group Demand Justice, which is currently in full meltdown mode over the possibility that Trump could appoint not one, but two more justices to the nation’s highest court. Harris, apparently eager to show she’s still breathing politically, decided to chime in with her own declaration.

Article II of the Constitution gives the President of the United States the power to nominate Supreme Court justices. The Senate confirms them. Kamala Harris, private citizen and failed presidential candidate, does not factor into that equation anywhere. Not even in the footnotes.

This looks like nothing more than a failed politician’s desperate attempt to stay in the headlines and signal to the radical left that she’s still their girl — presumably because another presidential run in 2028 isn’t entirely off her radar. Even many on the left have moved on and show little enthusiasm for whatever Harris has to say these days.

Trump won. He’s the president. He gets to nominate justices. That’s how the Constitution works, a document Harris presumably read at some point during her time in the Senate, though the evidence is thin.

(DC Pundit) – You genuinely cannot make this stuff up. In what may be the most perfectly on-brand government story to ever come out of California, Governor Gavin Newsom has reportedly dropped upwards of $20 million on a consulting firm — hired specifically to identify ways to cut government waste. Let that sink in for a moment.

Twenty. Million. Dollars. To find waste.

Here’s the thing — Newsom could have simply walked through his own state’s budget, identified the bloated programs hemorrhaging taxpayer money, and made the tough calls himself. California certainly has no shortage of material to work with. The state has struggled for years with skyrocketing homelessness, a crumbling education system, rampant crime in its major cities, and a mass exodus of residents and businesses fleeing to more sensible states like Texas and Florida.

But making those decisions himself would mean owning them. And owning decisions means facing accountability — a concept that California Democrats have been allergically opposed to for quite some time. By outsourcing the entire exercise to a high-priced consulting firm, Newsom gets to keep his hands clean while the base stays happy and the blame lands somewhere else. Classic.

Newsom has long positioned himself as a competent, forward-thinking alternative to conservative governance. And yet here we are, watching the man spend $20 million to locate waste in a state he’s been running for years.

Here’s a wild, cost-free suggestion, Governor: if you really want to cut wasteful spending, perhaps the first item on the chopping block should be the $20 million consulting contract.

(DC Pundit) – If there’s one thing President Trump has made crystal clear over the years, it’s that he expects results from the people he puts in position. So it probably shouldn’t come as a massive surprise that reports are now swirling about his frustration with Attorney General Pam Bondi and her handling — or mishandling — of the Jeffrey Epstein document release.

According to both the New York Times and CNN, Trump has been discussing the possibility of replacing Bondi with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. That’s a significant shake-up, if it happens.

To his credit, Trump kept things diplomatic when CNN asked him directly about Bondi’s status. “Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” the president said in a statement. Translation: nothing to see here — for now.

But behind the scenes, the New York Times reports Trump has grown genuinely frustrated with Bondi’s leadership at the DOJ, and honestly, it’s not hard to understand why. The Epstein document rollout has been nothing short of a disaster from start to finish.

The Justice Department began releasing batches of files tied to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex-trafficking cases following a federal judge’s order in New York. President Trump had already signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law specifically to ensure full transparency on this case — a promise he made to the American people.

What they got instead was a mess. Some files arrived so heavily redacted they were practically useless. In other instances, the DOJ swung the pendulum too far the other way, failing to redact the names of actual sex-trafficking victims. To top it all off, Bondi drew sharp criticism after claiming she had personally reviewed “tens of thousands” of Epstein videos — a statement that raised more questions than it answered.

The American people deserve the full truth about Epstein. Whether Bondi is the right person to deliver it is apparently a question Trump himself is now wrestling with.

(DC Pundit) – New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani — the city’s newest socialist experiment in municipal governance — has unveiled a shiny new “free” childcare program for city workers. The catch? It’s only free if you’re the one receiving it. For everyone else holding the bill, that price tag lands at nearly $60,000 per child. Per year.

Welcome to the leftist shell game, folks. Nothing is ever free. Someone always pays — and that someone is you, the taxpayer.

The New York Post reported that “Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the opening of a new daycare center for municipal workers Monday that will cost more than double the average price of child care — to a tune of nearly $60,000 per kid.”

Making matters worse, Mamdani said the Adams administration didn’t allocate operating funds for the center, which would carry a $2.3 million price tag and will be folded into the city’s upcoming executive budget. Doing the math, that works out to $57,500 per child to attend the daycare from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

And let’s be crystal clear — this is just the rollout. Anyone with a functioning memory and a passing familiarity with government programs knows costs never go down. They only balloon.

This is the same tired playbook progressives have been running for decades. Slap the word “free” on a program, get the applause, then quietly hand working-class taxpayers the invoice. Mamdani, a democratic socialist who previously served in the New York State Assembly, has made no secret of his far-left ambitions for the city.

It sure looks like Minneapolis all over again — same playbook, same promises, same predictable financial disaster waiting to happen. New Yorkers would be wise to watch closely, speak loudly, and hold onto their wallets with both hands.

(DC Pundit) – America made the right call in the last presidential election, and the ‘No Kings’ crowd showed up Saturday to remind everyone just how right that call was.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz took to the stage at the Minnesota State Capitol on Saturday to deliver remarks at one of the “No Kings” protests that erupted across the country. Organizers boldly claimed that 9 million people would turn out across more than 3,000 events nationwide. The reality, as is so often the case with left-wing spectacles, fell considerably short of the hype. The protests were, by most accounts, a significant flop — the dominant demographic appearing to be older white liberal women, which is a long way from the revolutionary uprising the organizers were selling.

Walz, never one to miss an opportunity to perform for a sympathetic crowd, used the occasion to trash President Trump and make some eyebrow-raising pledges to the Somali community in Minnesota.

“We’ll never leave the side of Somali Minnesotans. Here’s our pledge to you: your great-grandchildren will be here when that orange clown is in the dustbin of history!” Walz shouted to the crowd.

He also declared: “We’re damn sure about this. We need no damn kings! But we do need a boss” — before introducing none other than Bruce Springsteen to the stage.

The timing of Walz’s passionate defense of the Somali community in Minnesota is, to put it charitably, interesting. The Department of Health and Human Services announced last year that it was freezing all childcare payments to Minnesota amid allegations of widespread fraud. Estimates suggest that Somali healthcare and daycare scammers may have stolen more than $9 billion in taxpayer money in the state.

For his part, Walz previously responded to the scandal by blaming white men for the rampant fraud.

So to recap: billions in alleged fraud, frozen federal payments, and Tim Walz is on a stage pledging eternal loyalty to Somali Minnesotans while calling the president a clown. Minnesota deserves better. So does the rest of the country.

(DC Pundit) – Democratic Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal of Washington State is now demanding that American citizens pay reparations to illegal aliens for the supposed “trauma” they have suffered at the hands of ICE. If that weren’t enough, she also wants everyone involved in deportation operations to be “held accountable” — which, translated from progressive-speak, means prosecuted and potentially thrown in jail for enforcing the laws of the United States.

Reparations. For illegal aliens. Paid by you.

It’s worth pausing to remember that Barack Obama was nicknamed the “deporter in chief” by his own media cheerleaders — a label meant to signal how tough and pragmatic he was on immigration. Back then, Democrats had absolutely no problem with ICE, deportations, or immigration enforcement, because one of their own was running the show. Funny how principles work that way.

There is an unspoken competition on the far left to out-radical the radical sitting right next to you. Today it’s reparations for illegal aliens. Tomorrow someone will have to top it with something even more unhinged to prove their progressive credentials are sufficiently stamped and certified.

The real danger, however, is that this kind of talk moves the goalposts. What sounds absurd today becomes the opening position in tomorrow’s negotiation. That’s how the Left has operated for decades, and conservatives would be foolish to dismiss it as harmless noise.

The most appropriate response to Jayapal’s proposal is the one it genuinely deserves: open, unapologetic ridicule. Suggesting that hardworking American taxpayers owe reparations to people who broke federal law to enter this country is not a serious policy position. It’s an insult to every legal citizen in this nation.

(DC Pundit) – Some moments reveal exactly who certain people are and what they truly stand for. Wednesday in Philadelphia was one of those moments.

A mob of masked agitators stormed City Hall for what they called a “Hands Off Iran” rally, and what unfolded was a brazen, unhinged display of anti-American extremism that should outrage every citizen in this country, regardless of political affiliation.

This was a crowd openly praising Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, three designated terrorist organizations, while burning American flags and waving Palestinian and Iranian flags in their place. In broad daylight. At City Hall.

The moment that captured it all on video came courtesy of independent journalist Frank Scales of Surge Philly. Footage shows the crowd erupting in cheers as a speaker in a bright red hoodie declared: “Until we have done everything in our power to bring the United States to its knees, let us not lose sight of the enemy. For every U.S. military base that crumbles, and for every U.S. soldier who returns home in a casket, we cheer!”

This is the same crowd that spent years defending the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians, one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in modern history, and now openly celebrates Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

The reaction from Democrats was, predictably, nearly silent. There was, however, one notable exception. Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman — not exactly a conservative firebrand — condemned the rally outright. Credit where it’s due, though the bar for denouncing people cheering dead American soldiers shouldn’t exactly be a high one to clear.
