(DC Pundit) – President Donald Trump isn’t one to play along with Washington’s endless games of favoritism, and this week he reminded Kamala Harris of that reality. On Thursday, Trump revoked the former vice president’s extended Secret Service protection—an added layer of taxpayer-funded security she had no legal right to in the first place.
By law, former vice presidents receive six months of protection after leaving office. Harris’ coverage officially expired on July 21. Yet, in true swamp fashion, Joe Biden quietly extended her protection for another year, without offering the public any explanation. That’s right—rules for thee, but not for me.
Trump’s decision brings an end to that special treatment. CNN published the official letter, which read: “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”

Naturally, Harris’ team rushed to put out a carefully crafted statement. Senior adviser Kirsten Allen told CNN, “The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.” Translation: thank you for the service, but no acknowledgment that Harris was benefiting from something she was never owed.
The real story here is simple. Trump enforced the law as written, while Democrats bent it for political convenience. Biden’s move to extend Harris’ protection wasn’t about safety, it was about clinging to relevance and privilege. After all, if the American people are no longer buying what Harris is selling, at least she could keep the appearance of importance with a security entourage.
But those days are now over. Harris will have to get used to what countless Americans already live with, navigating daily life without a taxpayer-funded detail. That’s what happens when you leave office and lose the confidence of the voters.
Trump’s message couldn’t be clearer: no more perks, no more exceptions, and no more bending the rules for political allies. In other words, accountability is back in Washington.
