(DC Pundit) – Newly declassified intelligence documents have blown the lid off a disturbing chapter in American political history, confirming what many conservatives have long suspected: Hillary Clinton approved of a plan to smear Donald Trump with bogus Russia collusion claims to distract from her own growing email scandal. And yes, the Obama administration knew about it.
The documents, released Thursday, stem from two memos collected by Obama-era intelligence agencies ahead of the 2016 election. They detail private conversations between top Democratic Party operatives and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations, revealing a carefully coordinated strategy to link Trump with the Kremlin, even if it meant manufacturing the narrative out of thin air.
According to one of the bombshell memos, Clinton “approved a plan proposed by one of her foreign policy advisors, Julianne Smith, to ‘smear Donald Trump by magnifying the scandal tied to the intrusion by the Russian special services in the pre-election process to benefit the Republican candidate.’”

Translation: distract the public with smoke, mirrors, and Moscow — while quietly sweeping her classified email debacle under the rug.
Another memo laid out the opposition playbook, stating that the Clinton team, “with support from special services,” was preparing “scandalous revelations of business relations between Trump and the ‘Russian Mafia.’” These were nothing more than salacious political fairy tales, aimed at steering the media and public away from her own misdeeds.
But it gets worse. The memos also suggest that then-President Barack Obama may have intervened to shut down the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s reckless use of a private email server to handle highly classified government communications while she was Secretary of State. Nothing to see here, folks, just your government hard at work protecting the powerful.
The memos further revealed that the Trump-Russia narrative was seeded nearly a year before Obama ordered a post-election intelligence review parroting the same accusations in December 2016. That review, published the following January, relied heavily on the now-debunked Steele dossier, a political hit job funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC.
Yes, that same discredited dossier that former MI6 agent Christopher Steele assembled, which was then funneled into the media through FBI-linked tech firms like CrowdStrike and ThreatConnect.
One email from Soros official Leonard Bernardo revealed the plan’s roadmap: “During the first stage of the campaign, due to lack of direct evidence, it was decided to disseminate the necessary information through the FBI-affiliated … technical structures … from where the information would then be disseminated through leading U.S. publications.”
In other words, when facts were scarce, propaganda filled the void.
Another message, dated July 27, 2016, explicitly stated, “HRC approved Julia’s idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections. That should distract people from her own missing email, especially if the affair goes to the Olympic level.”
And they almost pulled it off, if not for special counsel John Durham’s tireless multi-year investigation that uncovered this orchestrated charade. Durham worked closely with both the CIA and FBI, who assessed the intelligence as “likely authentic,” and confirmed it wasn’t a product of Russian misinformation.
What millions of Americans already knew instinctively, that the Russia narrative was a politically-motivated farce, is now backed by declassified intelligence. The Democrats didn’t just bend the truth. They broke it, twisted it, and fed it to the media like it was gospel.
