(DC Pundit) – Jennifer Rubin, a Washington Post columnist, is facing intense backlash for her recent comments about Republicans on her podcast ‘Jen Rubin’s Green Room.’ In what many are calling an unhinged rant, Rubin made the outrageous claim that Republicans “want to kill your kids.”
Rubin, who’s been writing opinion pieces for the Washington Post since 2010, was supposedly giving advice to Democrats on how to simplify their messaging. However, her attempt at being “pithy” crossed a line that is unacceptable.
“If you’re going to oppose vaccinations, if you’re going to stop breakthrough medical research, if you’re going to allow minors and all sorts of people to get semiautomatic weapons — which they use to shoot up schools — well then, you are responsible for kids’ health and death,” Rubin stated, doubling down on her inflammatory remarks.
The reaction from conservatives was swift and fierce. Many took to social media to express their outrage and call for consequences.
Conservative activist Robby Starbuck didn’t mince words, tweeting, “She should be fired over this if there’s any sanity left in the world,” even tagging Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos in his post.
Wow. Washington Post Columnist Jen Rubin says that Democrats need to message "over and over and over again" that "Republicans want to kill your kids." She should be fired over this if there’s any sanity left in the world @JeffBezos. pic.twitter.com/9w4j3324x5

Another critic proclaimed, “In my opinion … this Jennifer Rubin woman sounds like a deranged nut case.”
. @washingtonpost, In my opinion … this Jennifer Rubin woman sounds like a deranged nut case.
Why the hell would your paper give her an outlet for her literal disgusting rants?
It’s people like her that reinforce to the people of the world that your legacy media outlets can’t… pic.twitter.com/mtxS3jbM4l

Some observers attributed Rubin’s comments to what they call “Trump derangement syndrome,” a term often used to describe those who seem obsessed with criticizing the former president.
One social media user summed up the sentiment of many, stating, “Jennifer Rubin is a prime example of what is wrong with MSM. Completely unhinged liberal with free license from her employer to spout BS.”
It’s clear that Rubin’s comments have struck a nerve with many Americans who are tired of the extreme polarization in political discourse. While robust debate is healthy for democracy, baseless accusations and inflammatory rhetoric only serve to further divide the nation.
It’s crucial for commentators and journalists to maintain a level of professionalism and factual accuracy in their reporting and opinions. Rubin’s comments, regardless of her intentions, fall far short of this standard and do little to contribute to meaningful political dialogue.
The Washington Post, known for its influential position in American journalism, now faces questions about how it will address this controversy. As of now, the newspaper has not issued any statement regarding Rubin’s comments or her future with the publication.
