(DC Pundit) – President Donald Trump plans to issue a presidential proclamation today, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act, highlighting his administration’s remarkable achievements in strengthening the program while delivering what he calls “the largest tax break for seniors in the history of our country.”
The Social Security Act was signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935, during the depths of the Great Depression. The groundbreaking legislation created a federal safety net designed to assist Americans facing unemployment, illness, disability, death, and old-age challenges. What Roosevelt envisioned as a basic promise to American workers has evolved into one of the nation’s most critical programs.
Trump’s Thursday proclamation, obtained and reviewed in advance by Fox News Digital, proclaimed the Act as “a monumental legislative achievement.” The president emphasized the program’s enduring mission in his characteristic style.

“To this day, Social Security is rooted in a simple promise: those who gave their careers to building our Nation will always have the support, stability, and relief they deserve,” the proclamation states. “Thanks to my Administration’s efforts, Social Security now stands stronger and more resilient than ever before.”
While Democrats continue their predictable hand-wringing and fear-mongering about Republican approaches to Social Security, Trump’s second-term results speak for themselves. Critics have attempted to slam his approach to improving the program, arguing that cuts to the Social Security Administration’s workforce and provisions in the Republican’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act will somehow damage this critical program.
The administration isn’t having any of these tired talking points, pointing instead to concrete improvements: technological advances, dramatically reduced customer service wait times, and cleared disability claim backlogs that had been festering for years under previous administrations.
“While Democrats flail and peddle lies about Social Security, President Trump is demonstrating his unbreakable commitment to protecting and strengthening this vital program for the nearly 72 million Americans who benefit from it,” White House spokesperson Liz Huston said.
“By massively improving the customer service experience through technological improvements, preventing illegal aliens from accessing benefits, and delivering no taxes on Social Security through the One Big Beautiful Bill – President Trump has Made Social Security Great Again.”
The numbers don’t lie, even if Trump’s critics prefer to ignore them. According to administration sources, the government completed over 3.1 million payments ahead of schedule thus far, totaling $17 billion to eligible beneficiaries. That’s real money going to real Americans who earned it, delivered faster than ever before.
Perhaps even more impressive is the transformation of Social Security’s notorious customer service experience. Anyone who has tried calling a government office knows the drill: endless hold times, transfers to nowhere, and representatives who seem less informed than the automated system. Under Trump’s leadership, the average telephone response time plummeted from 30 minutes last year to just six minutes currently. That represents an 80% reduction in wait times – the kind of efficiency improvement that would make any private sector CEO proud.
The crown jewel of Trump’s Social Security improvements comes through provisions in the Republican spending package signed into law last month. These measures will allow “the vast majority of seniors who receive social security” to pay absolutely nothing in taxes on their benefits.
“The largest tax break for seniors in the history of our country,” as Trump describes it in his proclamation.
While Democrats spent years warning about imaginary threats to Social Security, Trump quietly went about the business of actually improving it.
The timing of this 90th anniversary celebration couldn’t be more fitting. As America reflects on nine decades of Social Security’s promise to workers, Trump has demonstrated that conservative leadership can strengthen these vital programs without the big-government bureaucracy that typically accompanies such efforts.
For the nearly 72 million Americans who depend on Social Security, Trump’s record provides something Democrats never could: actual results instead of empty promises.
