(DC Pundit) – It isn’t often you hear a Democrat mayor hand President Donald Trump a political gift, but that’s exactly what happened in Washington, D.C. this week. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has spent years parroting left-wing talking points about “authoritarian takeovers,” was forced to acknowledge the obvious: Trump’s law enforcement surge in the nation’s capital has worked.
Bowser admitted that the results of the federal surge have been nothing short of dramatic. “The difference between this 20-day period of this federal surge and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings,” she said. That’s not just a small improvement—it’s a collapse of one of the city’s most terrifying crime trends. Bowser added, “We know that when carjackings go down, when use of gun goes down, when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer, so this surge has been important to us.”
Translation: the people of D.C. finally got a taste of what happens when law and order are actually enforced. Families can walk outside without constantly looking over their shoulders, and residents don’t have to wonder if their cars will be stolen at gunpoint every time they park. In short, Trump’s approach is delivering what liberal policies never do: results.
D.C. Mayor Bowser: We "greatly appreciate" the surge.

Of course, this is terrible news for Democrats who have spent years demonizing Trump’s crime-fighting strategies as “heavy-handed” and “dangerous.” For the radical left, maintaining the narrative is always more important than keeping Americans safe. That’s why it must sting for them to hear their own mayor publicly acknowledge that the President’s intervention brought an 87% reduction in carjackings and a measurable improvement in public safety.
Let’s be real: if this surge had failed, Democrats would be shouting it from the rooftops, calling it proof of Trump’s “failed leadership.” But since it succeeded, the media will bury it as quickly as possible. Ordinary Americans, however, see the difference between endless excuses from the left and actual leadership from President Trump.

The takeaway here is simple. Safe streets don’t come from wishful thinking, “community conversations,” or lectures about equity. They come from enforcing the law. Washington, D.C., just learned that lesson the hard way, and even Mayor Bowser couldn’t spin her way out of admitting it.
