(DC Pundit) – Dr. Ben Carson delivered a heartfelt and thoughtful address at AmFest 2025 on Saturday, offering a moving tribute to the late Charlie Kirk while also reminding the audience why America — and its founding principles — remain worth defending. Carson’s remarks blended reflection, gratitude, and a sober warning about the cultural battles facing the nation, all delivered in the calm, steady manner that has long defined him.
“I miss Charlie, like so many of you do,” Carson told the crowd, setting a reverent tone. Rather than focusing solely on loss, Carson encouraged attendees to view life through a broader lens. “You kind of have to look at it from the perspective of eternity. From that perspective, if you are here for one day, 31 years, 120 years, it’s a snap of the finger against the backdrop of eternity,” he said.
That perspective, Carson explained, makes Kirk’s impact impossible to ignore. “For his snap of the finger, how many lives did Charlie impact? That’s what we should be thinking about,” he continued. It was a pointed reminder that influence, not longevity, is what ultimately matters — a message that clearly resonated with the audience.
Carson then shifted to a theme he often returns to: gratitude for the United States and the responsibility that comes with it. “We are so lucky. We are so lucky to live in this country. Have you ever thought about it?” he asked. He added, “We are extraordinarily blessed, and we need to keep it that way. But our founders wanted not only that, they wanted a place where people could live in freedom and where the will of the people would be respected.”
“It’s 250 years later, and we are still here,” Carson noted, emphasizing the endurance of the American experiment. “We’ve become a land of promise for so many people,” he said.

However, Carson cautioned that America’s enemies have simply changed tactics. Unable to defeat the nation militarily, he warned, adversaries now aim to weaken it by targeting institutions such as education, media, and faith. He also argued that critics attempt to erode national unity by attacking the founders themselves. “Should we discredit the American Constitution, make it old fashioned and out of step? Should we discredit the founders of our country?” Carson asked rhetorically.

Addressing one of the most common historical attacks, Carson acknowledged that slavery existed worldwide but explained what set America apart. “The thing that really made America unique is that we had so many people who vehemently opposed the evil institution, that they fought a bloody civil war and lost a large portion of the population to get rid of it,” he said.
In honoring Charlie Kirk, Carson ultimately delivered a broader message: America’s history is imperfect, its future is contested, but its principles remain worth preserving — and fighting for.
