(DC Pundit) – A male nurse in Florida is facing intense backlash, and potentially the end of his career, after publicly announcing that he would refuse to treat supporters of President Donald Trump.
An anesthesiologist named Erik Martindale ignited a social media firestorm after posting on Facebook that he would intentionally allow MAGA supporters to suffer by refusing to administer anesthesia during medical procedures. In plain English, Martindale openly stated he would not do his job if a patient’s political views didn’t align with his own.
Martindale attempted to justify his position by arguing that he owns his businesses and therefore has the right to deny care, framing the decision as some sort of moral stand. According to him, this wasn’t discrimination or negligence. It was an “ethical oath.” An interesting interpretation, considering the actual Hippocratic oath says the exact opposite.
“I will not perform anesthesia for any surgeries or procedures for MAGA,” Martindale wrote in the now-deleted Facebook post. “It is my right, it is my ethical oath, and I stand behind my education.”
“I own all of my businesses, and I can refuse anyone!”

He says he won’t give anesthesia for Republicans undergoing surgery and believes that’s his right and is ethical.

After being widely criticized and accused of violating the Hippocratic oath, Martindale abruptly deleted the post and claimed his account had been hacked. Convenient timing. Even more convenient was his refusal to explain why anyone would target him in the first place — especially given that virtually no one had heard of him before the post went viral.

If medical professionals feel emboldened to deny care based on political beliefs, then the concept of equal treatment under the law — and under medicine — collapses entirely. Imagine the outrage if the political roles were reversed. The media wouldn’t stop talking about it.
