(DC Pundit) – President Trump ignited the liberal media on Monday morning with his reaction to the deaths of legendary Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. The couple was found stabbed to death in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
Reiner — a lifelong figure in American film, who directed classics like This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally… — and his wife Michele were discovered by their daughter, Romy, after responding crews arrived at the residence. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested and charged with their murders and is currently being held without bail.
In the hours that followed the news, President Trump took to Truth Social.
Rob Reiner was a hateful lunatic that spewed nonstop dangerous rhetoric against Trump (and his supporters).

Trump’s critics panned his post as insensitive and inappropriate given the severity of the crime; CNN’s Jake Tapper rebuked Trump, and former CNN host Brian Stelter labeled the president’s message “crude” and “crass.”
The president’s TruthSocial post about the Reiners’ horrific deaths is quite a contrast from how Rob Reiner reacted to the murder of Charlie Kirk. https://t.co/3DozHQjrFQ pic.twitter.com/ezdt5OO6ye

It’s an odd moment in American life when a devastating murder becomes another front in the culture wars, but that’s where we are.

Trump’s critics say that politicizing a brutal double homicide crosses a line. His defenders argue that it’s characteristic of his blunt, no-filter style — though even some allies called for a more respectful tone.
