(DC Pundit) – Newsweek is currently under fire on social media after downplaying an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The controversy arose when Newsweek suggested that Trump was hit by a fragment of a bullet rather than a whole bullet.
The article in question, titled “Donald Trump Might Not Have Been Shot After All,” has sparked widespread criticism.
Newsweek supported this claim by referencing testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray. In his statement, Wray mentioned, “With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”
According to Merriam-Webster, “shrapnel” is defined as: 1) “a projectile that consists of a case provided with a powder charge and a large number of usually lead balls and that is exploded in flight” and 2) “bomb, mine, or shell fragments.”
