(DC Pundit) – Robert De Niro has never been shy about his opinion of President Donald Trump, and on Sunday he proved it again, this time with a profanity-laced speech at a “Hands Off Our Vote” event in New York City.
The event was organized by Indivisible and Hands Off NYC, and it was a left-leaning voter mobilization rally. Actor Mark Ruffalo also delivered remarks. But De Niro was the one who took the lectern and let it rip.
“When that coward, that f*cking piece of sh*t Donald Trump tries to take our voice and power away, what do we tell him?” De Niro shouted.
“Keep your f*cking hands off our vote!” he said.
The crowd cheered, which is hardly a shock. Walk into a Manhattan rally of progressive activists and shout at Trump, and you’ll get applause. It’s the political equivalent of telling a joke in a room where everyone already agreed to laugh.
De Niro wasn’t done. He told the crowd, “Now with your commitment and support… we’re gonna send him away!”
Then came the call-and-response finale, with De Niro leading the room through a chant before he left the stage.
“Take back the House! Yes! Take back the Senate! Yes! Take back the power! Yes! Take back our country! Yes!” De Niro shouted.

Take back the country, apparently, from the man who won it. Funny how that works.
If this sounds familiar, it should. The two-time Oscar winner, best known for roles in “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull” and “The Godfather Part II,” has made a habit of this. He has appeared at “No Kings” rallies and has taken shots at Trump in sit-down interviews with left-wing media outlets.
It hasn’t always gone smoothly. In 2024, De Niro was heckled and chased away by Trump supporters after he criticized Trump during a press conference in Manhattan.
“You are gangsters!” De Niro shouted at the Trump supporters as they called him a loser.
Some things never change. A man who built a career playing tough guys on screen still seems to find the real thing a bit tougher to handle.
