California’s Illegal Alien Spending Spree Revealed — The Total Is Mind-Blowing

URGENT: CLICK TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE LEFT!

(DC Pundit) – California has always had a flair for the dramatic, and when it comes to spending taxpayer money on illegal aliens, the state is putting on quite the show. According to the Pew Research Center, California is home to an estimated 2.5 million illegal aliens — the largest such population of any state. Between 2021 and 2023 alone, that number swelled by 400,000. And Sacramento has been more than happy to roll out the welcome mat, complete with an eye-watering tab for legal residents to pick up.

CalMatters has documented what amounts to the most generous benefits package for illegal aliens in the entire country: driver’s licenses, college scholarships, low-income tax credits, pandemic cash handouts, and full Medi-Cal health coverage. In 2017, California cemented its status as a sanctuary state, barring most cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration agents.

Healthcare alone tells a staggering story. California expanded Medi-Cal to illegal aliens incrementally beginning in 2016. By January 2024, it became the first state offering full-scope Medicaid to all income-eligible residents regardless of immigration status. Approximately 1.6 million illegal aliens are now enrolled — about 5.3 percent of total Medi-Cal enrollment. The program was originally projected to cost $3 billion annually. Actual spending hit $9.5 billion in FY 2024–25, with $8.4 billion drawn from the general fund alone — representing 25 percent of all general fund Medi-Cal spending. The state spent $2.7 billion more than budgeted on this population alone.

The FY 2025–26 projection climbs to $12.4 billion. Even while drowning in a multi-billion-dollar deficit, Governor Newsom released $35 million to connect immigrant families with food assistance during President Trump’s deportation operations, apparently fiscal responsibility is optional in Sacramento.

K-12 education costs exceed $14.5 billion annually, at a projected per-student cost of $23,878. Incarceration adds $1 to $2 billion more. The state spends $45 million yearly on legal defense for illegals in federal immigration court. Over three budget years, $430 million in Rapid Response Funding flowed to nonprofit contractors.

Add in workers’ compensation, disability insurance, food assistance, and Dream Act tuition benefits, and the confirmed line-item total clears $25 billion annually. The Federation for American Immigration Reform placed total state and local costs at nearly $31 billion back in 2022.

California’s message to its struggling working-class taxpayers? Enjoy the bill.
