URGENT: CLICK TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE LEFT!
(DC Pundit) – The Democratic Party has spent years insisting that requiring voters to show ID at the polls is tantamount to suppression, so it’s a little rich that Barack Obama’s $850 million presidential center in Chicago is now demanding exactly that before you can walk through its doors for free.
Conservative social media users wasted no time pointing out the glaring contradiction at the heart of the Obama Presidential Center’s admission policy. Illinois residents can receive free admission on certain days, but only if they show valid photo ID proving their residency. You know, the same Democratic Party that has spent years screaming that voter ID laws are racist and disenfranchising suddenly needs to verify who you are before you can walk through Barack Obama’s door. The irony practically writes itself.
“They’re making you show ID… to visit the Obama Library… in Chicago. You can’t make this stuff up!” one social media user wrote. Another posted, “So residents have to prove who they are for this, but not to vote?” A third cut straight to the point: “It turns out Democrats support requiring ID… but only for free admission into Obama’s library.”
Obama’s own website confirms the policy, stating that Illinois residents “must be able to provide proof of residency. Be prepared to show proof of residency at the Museum with a valid photo ID, Illinois driver’s license, state ID, or city-issued ID.”

The ID flap is just the latest headache for a project that has been a rolling controversy for years. Obama once described the center as a “gift” to Chicago and emphasized it would be privately funded. A lovely sentiment — except taxpayers are footing the bill for surrounding infrastructure, including road redesigns, utility relocations, and drainage systems. Illinois has committed approximately $229 million, while Chicago has allocated more than $200 million in related improvements. Some gift.
The Obama Foundation also drew fire earlier this year for seeking 75 to 100 unpaid volunteer “ambassadors” to help operate the center, even as CEO Valerie Jarrett has earned roughly $740,000 annually in recent years.
Tickets go on sale April 21 for founding members, with general public sales beginning May 6 for visits between June 19 and November 30. So mark your calendars — and don’t forget your ID.
