(DC Pundit) – The race for Maine’s Democratic Senate nomination just took a turn that defies description. Actually, it defies several things, biology being chief among them.
Maine Democrats are scrambling to find a replacement candidate after their original nominee, Graham Platner, dropped out following a sexual assault allegation. The party faces a July 27 deadline to nominate someone to challenge longtime Republican Senator Susan Collins in November.
Meet Ashley Webb. Webb, a transgender activist now running in the crowded Democratic field, went viral this week after a Democratic Party debate in which he appeared wearing a dress and made a series of claims that left observers equal parts confused and concerned. Webb’s candidacy is entirely self-funded and self-run. “I’m a trans and intersex woman from Farmington, and I’m running the whole campaign myself — candidate and treasurer both, no big donors, no machine behind me,” Webb reportedly wrote online, describing himself as “a long shot in a crowded field.” That may be the understatement of the campaign cycle.
During the debate, Webb argued that his honesty makes him the right person for the job. “I wouldn’t lie to the people, and I wouldn’t deceive the people,” he said. He also claimed the transgender community is being “dehumanized,” stating, “They say that we want to hurt people. I don’t want to hurt anybody. I just want to use the bathroom, and if they want me to use the men’s room, I will, but I don’t want to be assaulted.”
That might have been the extent of the story, another fringe candidate making noise in a crowded Democratic primary, except for what surfaced on Reddit. Posts attributed to Webb reveal that he has spent considerable time on online forums attempting to explain what he describes as a transgender intersex condition. Webb acknowledges his karyotype is XY, meaning biologically he is male. Yet he claims to ovulate and experience monthly periods, asserting that the bleeding occurs through his rectum.
Webb has also written that he believes he may have internal female organs, stating he is “pretty positive I am the XX type, accept [sic] I got internal organs, unless what I am feeling are tumors that just happen to grow where those sorts of organs are usually.”
NEWS: Maine Democrat Ashley Webb, who said he would not "lie" or "deceive" people, claims in Reddit posts that he "ovulates" and has a monthly period, but because he has "external male parts" instead of "the proper hole," the period blood comes out of his anus.

To be straightforward about this: what Webb is describing is not biologically possible as stated, and if he is genuinely experiencing unexplained internal bleeding on a monthly basis, that warrants immediate medical attention, not a Senate campaign.
This is the Democratic Party in 2026. After Platner imploded over a sexual assault allegation, Maine Democrats are now scrambling to find a candidate to challenge Senator Susan Collins with just weeks to go before the nominating deadline. The field they have assembled includes a self-described transgender intersex candidate making claims about his physiology that have no basis in medical science.
The left continues to insist that questioning any of this makes you a bigot. Most Americans are simply calling it what it is: deeply strange.
