(DC Pundit) – If you thought Linda Sarsour had faded into the background after her unceremonious exit from mainstream left-wing politics, think again. She’s back, she’s got a new platform, and she’s using it to suggest that the Declaration of Independence needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch to better reflect her values. Happy 250th birthday, America.
For those who need a refresher: Sarsour rose to national prominence during Trump’s first term as a leader of the Women’s March movement, until the organization imploded largely due to her well-documented antisemitism. Being ejected from a progressive feminist movement for being too radical is no small feat, but Sarsour managed it. She has since found a more comfortable home with the Democratic Socialists of America, where her particular brand of anti-American radicalism fits right in.
In remarks pulled from a Working Families Party mass call from March 2026, Sarsour laid out her vision for the country’s founding document. NewsNation host Katie Pavlich had a succinct response, suggesting Sarsour “GTFO.” Hard to argue with that.
Here’s what Sarsour said: “… the question historically is gonna be, what were we doing on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence? What is our generation building?” She then offered her assessment of the document itself: “And as we know with the Declaration of Independence, really what it was, was a bunch of white guys 250 years ago who sat around and developed a document they called the Declaration of Independence.”

She continued: “The question is, can we build something different? Do we have the audacity to sit around and say that we want to build a document that is our values and our principles, and bring millions of Americans around it and say to them, put the politics to the side, put the political parties to the side.”
She wrapped up her remarks with this: “It is the blessed month of Ramadan right now, so I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on this … the time for winning for our people is coming very soon.”
“Our people.” Not Americans. “Our people.”
Sarsour is also a close ally of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, which should surprise absolutely nobody. This is a movement that views America’s founding not as something to preserve and build upon, but as an obstacle to be torn down and replaced.

Sarsour’s vision for dismantling America’s founding framework aligns neatly with the DSA’s recently reported policy platform, which seeks to eliminate the United States Senate entirely and have Congress select both the executive and judicial branches. It is, in short, a blueprint for the end of American democracy as it has existed for 250 years, dressed up in the language of inclusion and progress.
