(DC Pundit) – Abdul El-Sayed wants Michigan voters to see a mainstream candidate. However, his supporters don’t always stay on script.
Cam Higby, a conservative journalist who has made a name confronting the left on camera, recently came across two supporters of Abdul El-Sayed tabling outside one of the candidate’s campaign events. El-Sayed won the Democratic primary for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat and is on the ballot this November. Higby started asking the pair about their views, and they were happy to talk. For a while.
The two soon grew agitated and made clear they were finished answering questions. By then, they had already made some pretty shocking statements.
The group involved is the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and its own website leaves little to the imagination:
“Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) is a national organization of revolutionaries fighting for socialism in the United States. Our home is in the working class.
FRSO members are rooted in the mass movements for justice, particularly in the labor movement and the movements of oppressed nations and nationalities– especially African-Americans and Chicanos. We are also active in the immigrant rights, anti-war, student and youth movements. FRSO is recruiting and building towards the creation of a new Communist Party based on Marxism-Leninism. This is necessary to lead the way to socialism and liberation.”
A new Communist Party. Based on Marxism-Leninism. That’s the crowd showing up to hand out literature for a man who wants to represent Michigan in the Senate.

Michigan voters have already heard plenty about where El-Sayed stands. He has been all over TV insisting he isn’t a socialist, even as he appeared on stage with Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Campaigns don’t get to be surprised when the folks supporting them turn out to be Communist Party revolutionaries. That’s the company he keeps, and it’s the same wing of the party that keeps pushing the Democrats further left.
