(DC Pundit) – Police in Minneapolis executed a search warrant Tuesday night at the apartment shared by Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s son, Adnan, recovering firearms and ammunition. The congresswoman’s roommate, 22-year-old Abdulrahman Abdi, was arrested earlier that same day on a weapons charge and booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
Multiple law enforcement sources confirmed the overnight search targeted the Minneapolis residence where Omar’s son lives. In response to questions about what took place at the apartment, the Minneapolis Police Department confirmed another man, who is not the Congresswoman’s son, was arrested earlier in the day. Abdulrahman Abdi was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge.
The sequence started with a traffic stop. Officers cited Abdi for driving after his license was canceled and failing to provide proof of insurance. He was released at the scene while the vehicle was impounded. During that process, a firearm was discovered. Police later located Abdi and took him into custody without incident.

Omar’s son has not been charged or implicated in any wrongdoing. Still, the optics are hard to ignore for a progressive Democrat who has long pushed strict gun control measures and regularly lectures Americans about the dangers of firearms. When the roommate of a Squad member’s adult son ends up with weapons recovered from their shared apartment, the usual media silence is predictable. Conservatives notice these things even when the networks do not.
Abdi’s record includes multiple prior convictions, mostly traffic-related. Reports indicate at least ten previous brushes with the law. Minnesota law prohibits certain individuals with felony records from possessing firearms, adding another layer to the weapons charge.
Ilhan Omar has built a political brand on progressive purity tests, open-borders rhetoric, and skepticism toward law enforcement. Moments like this tend to undercut the narrative. This latest episode in Minneapolis fits a familiar pattern: the rules that progressive politicians demand for everyone else somehow look different closer to home.
