(DC Pundit) – Far-left Democrat Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed stood up on Friday and declared Michigan the “capital of Arab America,” just days after beating Republican Mike Rogers for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat.
Addressing the CONNECT Arab America Empowerment Summit in Virginia, the Egyptian Muslim with close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood said: “I’m honored to be the next United States senator from the great state of Michigan. I know we’re here in D.C., which of course is the capital of the United States of America. But Michigan is the capital of Arab America.”
El-Sayed ran on a hard-left platform that included Medicare for All, a $20 federal minimum wage, aggressive climate mandates, ending all U.S. military assistance to Israel, and openly advocating for the continued Islamification of America. He won by comfortable margins even after his primary opponent Haley Stevens endorsed Rogers.

Michigan is home to roughly 400,000 Arab-Americans, concentrated around Detroit. In Dearborn, nearly half the population reports Arab ancestry and the city votes on strictly sectarian lines. That same area already sends Rashida Tlaib, a founding member of “The Squad,” to Congress.

Let’s be honest. When a newly elected United States senator announces that an American state is now the capital of a foreign ethnic and religious identity, something has gone badly wrong. This is the Michigan that President Trump carried by just under 1.5 points over Kamala Harris in 2024. Two years later the state has elevated a man with Muslim Brotherhood connections who wants to cut off Israel and accelerate the Islamification of the country.
Conservatives have been warning for years that identity politics and demographic change would produce exactly this result: politicians who treat American soil as a staging ground for foreign allegiances rather than a national home. El-Sayed did not hide his priorities. He celebrated them. Rank-and-file Americans who still believe Michigan belongs to all its citizens, not one ethnic bloc, heard the message loud and clear.
