(DC Pundit) – Nancy Pelosi has never let facts get in the way of a good story, and Wednesday’s January 6 ceremony at the Capitol was no exception.

A plaque honoring Capitol Police officers was installed at the Capitol, and Democrat lawmakers, including Adam Schiff and Pelosi, delivered remarks during the ceremony. What followed from Pelosi was a long, meandering, and at times barely coherent performance.

She once again falsely claimed that President Trump incited an insurrection on January 6, 2021. For the record, Trump was never charged with insurrection — not by Jack Smith, not by anyone. But accuracy has never been Pelosi’s strong suit.

Slurring through her remarks, Pelosi declared: “When people visit the Capitol, they will always see a tribute to the bravery, to the courage, to the patriotism, to the debt that we owe our law enforcement officers on that terrible day.”

She continued: “They fought that for the Congress of the United States at a time when a instant — an insurrection was incited by the president of the United States. Who could figure that that would ever happen?”

Who could figure, indeed.

Pelosi went on to describe the events of that day, in dramatic fashion: “I remember Michael Fanone being attacked mer — un mercifully, getting a heart attack while it happens or a stroke, whatever, and his family having to live with that. Dunn protected my staff, my office was a target of all of this. Our staff had to go behind closed doors in the dark under tables with furniture pushed up to the door because they were banging on the door to get in to hurt them. I’ll never forgive them for the trauma they caused not only my staff but all the staff on Capitol Hill, these young idealistic people.”

She also recalled being removed from the House floor: “I remember being pulled off the podium. I was presiding because that was what we did.”

Here’s what Pelosi conveniently left out. In June 2024, footage released by the House Oversight Committee showed Pelosi herself saying, “I take responsibility” regarding the events of January 6. Additionally, both Pelosi and Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser turned down offers of National Guard troops at the Capitol that day — a decision that has never received the scrutiny it deserves.

January 6 has always had more layers to it than Democrats want to admit. And the woman delivering the loudest condemnations may have more explaining to do than anyone else.

(DC Pundit) – If you had any remaining doubt that the Biden-era Justice Department was running a politically motivated operation against President Trump and everyone in his orbit, newly released documents should put that doubt to rest permanently.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has released documents revealing that former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team quietly issued at least two subpoenas to Verizon, seeking phone records tied to now-FBI Director Kash Patel spanning from October 2020 through February 2023.

To make it even more troubling, each subpoena came packaged with a court-approved one-year gag order, legally preventing Verizon from telling Patel his records had been obtained. He had no idea. While these subpoenas typically capture metadata rather than actual communication content, they can construct an extraordinarily detailed map of a person’s contacts, movements, and associations.

Patel, who first disclosed the subpoenas earlier this year, pulled no punches in his reaction, calling the move “outrageous and deeply alarming.” Hard to argue with that assessment.

Grassley released the documents ahead of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing examining “Arctic Frost” — the FBI investigation that eventually fed into Smith’s prosecution efforts against Trump related to the 2020 election. Whether the Patel subpoenas were connected to that probe or to the separate classified documents investigation — in which Patel was also considered a key witness — remains unclear.

Republican senators on the committee were not interested in diplomatic restraint. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) went straight to the historical parallel that needs to be said: “If Watergate taught us anything, it is that even a single abuse of power can shake the foundations of our republic. What we are seeing now is far more expansive—a modern Watergate that swept up tens of thousands of private communications.”

Democrats, predictably, pushed back. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) argued that Patel had essentially made himself fair game, stating, “Patel made himself a fact witness.” Convenient logic from the party that spent years insisting the Russia investigation was completely above board.

The released documents also included internal briefing materials prepared for Attorney General Merrick Garland, showing Smith’s team believed the investigation was progressing smoothly and that coordination was occurring among top DOJ officials, FBI leadership, and federal judges in Washington.

Smith has consistently defended his conduct as lawful and nonpartisan. But when you’re secretly vacuuming up two-plus years of a political ally’s phone records while gagging the phone company from telling him — the word “nonpartisan” gets harder and harder to say with a straight face.

(DC Pundit) – If you thought the era of octogenarians clinging to congressional power like barnacles on a ship was winding down, Maxine Waters is here to prove you wrong.

The 87-year-old California Democrat is reportedly making it known that if her party retakes the House of Representatives in the 2026 midterms, she wants her old seat back as chair of the House Financial Services Committee. At that point, she would be 88 years old.

Waters made her intentions crystal clear, telling Politico: “If you take a look at my energy and what I do — I am Auntie Maxine. I’m the one who popularized ‘reclaiming my time.'”

Reclaiming her time. At 88. In one of the most demanding committee chairmanships in Congress. Sure, why not?

To be fair, this isn’t purely a Democratic problem — both parties have members who treat their congressional seats like family heirlooms, passing them down to themselves decade after decade. But it is a significantly larger problem on the left, where the leadership bench has spent years looking less like a governing body and more like a reunion tour.

Waters has represented California’s congressional district since 1991 and has never shown the faintest interest in stepping aside. The question every voter in her district should be asking is a simple one: What does she bring to the table that a younger, sharper representative couldn’t do better?

This is exactly why the conversation around term limits — and frankly, age limits for serving in Congress — deserves serious national attention. The American people are governed by individuals who, in any private sector job, would have been handed a retirement party and a gold watch years ago.

(DC Pundit) – If you were wondering how low Democratic senators could sink in their crusade against immigration enforcement, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal just grabbed a shovel and started digging.

Democrats have repeatedly voted to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security. On Friday, they did it again — blocking funding for both DHS and TSA. The fallout was immediate and entirely predictable. Hundreds of TSA agents quit after missing paychecks. Major airports across the country began experiencing significant delays. Travelers found themselves standing in security lines for up to five hours, missing flights, and watching their travel plans collapse, all because Democrats decided scoring political points was more important than keeping America’s airports functioning.

President Trump stepped in with a solution, announcing he would deploy ICE agents to airports across the country to help move travelers through security. According to Reuters, ICE agents were set to be deployed to at least 14 major airports on Monday.

A reasonable response to a crisis caused entirely by Democratic obstruction. Enter Senator Blumenthal.

Rather than accept any responsibility for the chaos his party created, Blumenthal went straight to the most unhinged take imaginable, declaring: “ICE agents at airports will only aggravate delays & lines—disrupting checks, interrogating travelers, dragging parents from children, detaining citizens, brutalizing families, shooting & even killing.”

Blumenthal also attacked the officers themselves as “masked, unidentified agents,” adding: “Brutal, lawless tactics common in communities across the country by masked, unidentified agents, violating basic rights—no way to help TSA or travelers.”

This is the same Richard Blumenthal who famously and falsely claimed for years to have served in Vietnam when he hadn’t.

Democrats broke the airports. Trump sent help. And Blumenthal responded by accusing ICE agents of planning murder. You genuinely cannot make this up.

(DC Pundit) – New York City elected Zohran Mamdani as its mayor, and now his wife Rama Duwaji is generating serious headlines — and not the good kind.

The Washington Free Beacon has published a detailed investigation into Duwaji’s social media history, revealing what the outlet describes as a disturbing pattern of posts glorifying terrorist violence, celebrating Islamic extremists, using racial slurs, and expressing open hostility toward Jewish people and the state of Israel.

The Syrian-American Duwaji, now 28, “glorified terrorist violence in a wide range of posts made on social media when she was a teenager and in her early 20s.” This included celebrating members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine — a designated terrorist organization — and expressing support for the First Intifada.

In September 2017, when she was approximately 20 years old, Duwaji posted a photo of notorious Palestinian terrorist Leila Khaled to her Tumblr account, echoing one of Khaled’s most well-known statements: “If it does good for my cause, I’ll be happy to accept death.”

She also championed PFLP member Shadia Abu Ghazaleh, who bombed a bus in Israel, posting: “shadia abu ghazaleh, first palestinian woman to fight in resistance after 1967 occupation #InternationalWomensDay.” Ghazaleh later died while constructing a bomb intended for a building in Tel Aviv.

In 2015, Duwaji reposted: “But in all reality, @Snapchat has disappointed me. Fuck #TelAviv. Shouldn’t exist in the first place. They’re occupiers. You celebrate them.”

Additionally, she used the N-word in a post directed at another user.

Duwaji “liked” multiple social media posts celebrating the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians.

Following the Free Beacon’s report, an old X account attributed to Duwaji under the username @_RamaDee was deleted.

Mayor Mamdani’s response? He essentially shrugged, stating: “My wife is the love of my life and she’s also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall.”

Eight and a half million New Yorkers deserve a better answer than that.

(DC Pundit) – If you’re keeping score at home, this is now at least the second time in her career that Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been shown the door at a restaurant for the unforgivable crime of being a prominent Republican.

Sanders took to X to describe the incident, which took place at The Croissanterie restaurant in Little Rock.

“Last week I was having lunch with two other moms at a restaurant when the owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave,” she wrote.

According to Sanders’ office, the group had already been dining for roughly an hour and fifteen minutes, had paid their bill in full, and had tipped the staff before the owner decided to make their move. In other words, they were practically out the door anyway — but apparently not fast enough for the politically motivated management.

The restaurant released a statement explaining its reasoning, saying it was initially “surprised and uncertain how best to respond” upon realizing the governor was on the premises. It then offered this gem of progressive logic: “Allowing her to stay risked being perceived as a lack of support for the community that makes up the majority of our team, as well as their families and friends.”

The business added that it ultimately decided to “support our employees and guests who expressed they were uncomfortable,” and while expressing regret at being “placed in this position,” made clear: “We stand by our choice to support our employees and guests.”

As Sanders and her group exited, an individual near the staff allegedly shouted at her and made a crude hand gesture. Classy to the very end.

Sanders, to her credit, handled it with more grace than the situation deserved. “Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant didn’t meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down,” she wrote.

Back in 2018, while serving as White House press secretary, Sanders was asked to leave the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia. Her response then was equally measured: “Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully, and will continue to do so.”

Same story, different restaurant. The Left preaches inclusion right up until a Republican walks through the door.
