(DC Pundit) – Has anyone else noticed that when Democrats run out of ideas, they start critiquing the drapes? With another election cycle heating up, two former presidents hit the campaign trail this week armed with interior design opinions.
First up was Bill Clinton, who stopped in Hollywood, Florida, on Tuesday to weigh in on President Trump’s Rose Garden renovations. “I think Congress made a mistake not protesting turning the Rose Garden into what looks like the entrance to Liberace’s bathroom,” Clinton said. Coming from a man whose own White House years are remembered for something other than good taste, that’s quite the review.

Then came Barack Obama, who stumped for Ohio Democrats in Cleveland on Saturday and took his own swing at the Trump White House makeover. “[Trump] has got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened up a Cheesecake Factory. It’s gold everywhere,” Obama said.
Former President Barack Obama takes a swipe at President Trump's White House renovations, joking that the president should have his own show.

For the record, the Rose Garden dates back to 1913, when First Lady Ellen Wilson planted it, and it was later redesigned under President John F. Kennedy. Trump has said the roses are staying, and that the renovation was meant to fix a practical problem: guests kept slipping on the grass during press events. Apparently, solving a problem is now a scandal if a Republican does it.
On Saturday afternoon, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were at a polling station in Palm Beach. When asked about the comments from Slick Willie and Obama, the president kept it simple.
“They’re critical because we beat them,” Trump said.
He also made it clear he understands why they’re out there swinging. “I would be out there fighting, too,” he said of Obama and Clinton.
Then he offered a quick review of their own résumés. “Obama was a lousy president. Clinton was not bad, but he got caught up in a lot of scandals,” Trump said.
🤣🔥 Obama and Clinton are out on the campaign trail taking shots at Trump, and 47 just DEMOLISHED both of them in one breath

It’s hard to argue with that. Clinton was impeached by the House in 1998 for perjury and obstruction of justice stemming from the Monica Lewinsky affair, though the Senate acquitted him the following year. Say what you want about the renovations, but nobody ever had to ask what Trump was doing with a cigar.
Here’s the bottom line. The two men who used to run the country are now reduced to making comments about gold trim and cheesecake. Meanwhile, the president is casting his ballot and getting on with the job. If gold-plated insults are the best Democrats have, Republicans should feel pretty good about November.
