(DC Pundit) – A 69-year-old Army veteran who proudly decorated his Southern California home with Trump banners and American flags has died after being brutally attacked outside his own residence in what authorities describe as an unprovoked assault.
Kerry Sheron, a beloved local figure in Escondido known for his fierce patriotism and unabashed support for President Donald Trump, passed away Sunday night after spending nearly a week hospitalized in critical condition. He never recovered from the injuries sustained during the attack.
On May 20, Sheron was violently assaulted outside his home by 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler. There was no altercation, no dispute, no provocation. Butler simply attacked him.
Deputy District Attorney Ross Garcia laid out the brutal details of what happened. “It was a single punch to the jaw,” Garcia told NBC San Diego. “The victim then falls to the floor, and there are subsequent hits to the victim’s head area.”
Butler had already been charged with attempted murder, elder abuse, making criminal threats, and battery following the attack. Those charges will now be upgraded in light of Sheron’s death.
Kerry Sheron served his country in uniform. He came home, built a life, and exercised his constitutionally protected right to express his political beliefs openly and proudly on his own property. He decorated his home with the flags and banners of a nation he clearly loved deeply. And he was beaten to death for it.
This story deserves far more attention than it has received. If the political affiliations in this case were reversed — if a Biden supporter or a progressive activist had been beaten to death outside a home covered in Democrat campaign materials — there is not a single person reading this article who believes it wouldn’t be wall-to-wall coverage on every major network for days on end. Candlelight vigils would be organized. Congressional statements would be issued.
Instead, the mainstream media has largely looked the other way, because Kerry Sheron’s story doesn’t fit the narrative they’ve spent years carefully constructing.
An American veteran who dedicated years of his life to serving this country is gone, killed in a cowardly, unprovoked attack outside the home he had every right to decorate however he chose. His killer is in custody, and justice must be served to the fullest extent the law allows.
Kerry Sheron deserved better and his family deserves justice.
