(DC Pundit) – Ilhan Omar’s week just went from bad to worse. Federal prosecutors are reportedly planning to use DNA evidence in their immigration fraud investigation of the Minnesota Democrat, according to sources who spoke to The New York Post.
The Post says investigators have leaned on whistleblowers, government records, and now DNA in an effort to back up decade-old allegations that Omar, and possibly relatives including her father, defrauded immigration authorities. One source told the paper the DNA is critical to an allegation that Omar married her own brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 to help him get a green card. How the DNA was obtained is unclear, as is whether it was collected before or after Homeland Security Investigations agents searched her Washington home last Monday. Agents were seen leaving that house carrying boxes marked “Seized Property Evidence.”
Omar and her allies call the whole thing political targeting. Her office called the search an “outrageous abuse of power.” Funny how “abuse of power” only becomes a rallying cry when a Democrat is on the receiving end of a judge-approved warrant. The Department of Justice says the search was “judicially authorized” and part of an “ongoing federal investigation.”

Border czar Tom Homan has put it plainly. “If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law,” he said. Imagine that: a rule that applies to everyone, even members of the Squad.
There’s more at stake than a congressional seat. Homan has said there’s a denaturalization process for cases of proven immigration fraud. The Post previously quoted an immigration official saying the administration could pursue it if evidence emerged that Omar or her father lied on immigration applications.
Omar is on the ballot November 3, and the left says the timing is suspicious. Investigations don’t pause for campaign season. If the evidence holds up, her constituents deserve to know before they vote.
