(DC Pundit) – If you don’t have plans tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern, clear your schedule. President Trump is set to deliver a primetime address that, according to multiple outlets, will expose China’s role in meddling with American elections.
The president will reportedly unveil evidence showing Beijing compromised U.S. voter data, and that the CIA had knowledge of this interference but failed to share the information with Trump during his first term. Read that again. The agency responsible for protecting American national security allegedly sat on evidence of foreign election interference and kept it from the sitting president.
Trump will not be alone at the podium. He will be joined by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, and FBI Director Kash Patel. That is not a lineup you assemble for a routine policy announcement. The audience for the primetime speech is expected to include members of the president’s cabinet, along with heads of the CIA, FBI, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Homeland Security, and other senior agency staff. Some cabinet members will not be there due to scheduling conflicts, though one imagines attendance will be fairly strong given the subject matter.

The White House is playing it close to the vest ahead of the address. Asked for comment on the contents of the speech, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “As usual, anonymous sources are speculating about what President Trump will say during his speech on Thursday evening. The truth is, nobody knows yet what President Trump will ultimately say, which is why everyone should tune in.”
Fair enough. But the pieces already on the table are significant. John Ratcliffe, now CIA Director, has been one of the most vocal voices in Washington about the intelligence community’s failures and its history of withholding critical information from elected officials. His presence, alongside Kash Patel, signals that tonight is not a political rally.
Democrats spent years insisting that any suggestion of foreign interference in American elections beyond Russia was a conspiracy theory. Tonight, the President of the United States, flanked by the directors of the CIA, FBI, and DNI, apparently intends to make the case that China was doing exactly that, and that the deep state knew and said nothing.
Tune in at 9 p.m. Eastern. This one matters.
