(DC Pundit) – President Trump delivered a primetime address last night that had Democrats absolutely losing their minds. Which, given what he revealed, is probably the most telling response they could have offered.
Trump laid out a series of stunning election vulnerabilities during the speech, backed by a trove of documents released simultaneously by the White House. Among the revelations: over a quarter of non-citizens are registered to vote, China reportedly stole American voter information, and Beijing allegedly attempted to manufacture fake ballots for former President Joe Biden. Trump announced he has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to notify states about non-citizens on their voter rolls and “direct them to remove all ineligible voters from the lists immediately.”
He also called on Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require individuals to prove citizenship with a valid ID in order to vote in federal elections. A completely radical concept, apparently.
“The only reason you wouldn’t do it is you want to cheat, because your policies are so bad and your candidates are so pathetic that you can’t get away or can’t get elected any other way,” Trump said. “This landmark bill requires that all voters must show photo voter ID. How simple is that? Could I have your photo please? Photo voter ID. All voters must provide proof of citizenship.”
Democrats, right on cue, responded not with counter-evidence but with name-calling and dismissal, which is what you do when you don’t have an argument.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) went straight for the insults. “Donald Trump is a feeble, unhinged conspiracy-peddling 80-year-old failed President,” he said. “The economy is a disaster under this guy and the American people know it. Pathetic.” No rebuttal of the evidence. No alternative explanation for non-citizens on voter rolls. Just adjectives.

The economy is a disaster under this guy and the American people know it.
Pathetic.

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) brought her own brand of fury to the proceedings. “After listening to the president’s rambling address, I want him to know that the SAVE America Act is going NOWHERE in the Senate. It belongs in the trash with the rest of Donald Trump’s conspiracy theories,” she declared, waving away documented election security concerns with a flick of the wrist. She then closed with, “America, use your vote and your voice to save our democracy” — apparently without noticing that ensuring only eligible Americans can vote is precisely the point of the legislation she just called garbage.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) kept it simple: “Not now. Not ever. The SAVE Act is dead on arrival in the United States Senate.”

So to recap: Trump presented evidence of foreign interference in American elections and non-citizens on voter rolls. Democrats responded by calling him names and vowing to block any effort to fix it. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about which party actually wants secure elections, nothing will.
