(DC Pundit) – CNN is so desperate to prop up another progressive darling that it handed Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico a town hall stage Wednesday night in Fort Worth. The network rolled out the red carpet for the far-left Texas lawmaker, letting voters grill him face-to-face while his Republican opponent, Attorney General Ken Paxton, stayed home. What followed was a master class in how the left tries to rewrite Christianity to fit its agenda.
A Texas voter named Jody confronted Talarico on his pro-choice abortion stance. He bent over backwards trying to sound reasonable, claiming he could somehow find common ground with pro-life Texans. Then came the real gem: he suggested the Bible is silent on abortion.
Jody schooled him immediately, reminding the seminary student that the Ten Commandments includes ‘Thou shalt not kill.’ The audience erupted into applause. For once, a regular voter refused to sit quietly while a politician treated Scripture like a choose-your-own-adventure book.

This is the same Talarico whose entire campaign rests on the fantasy that authentic Christianity lines up perfectly with progressive politics. Progressive consultants must have dreamed him up in a focus group: a soft-spoken Democrat who quotes Jesus when it is convenient and ignores the clear moral lines when they get in the way. Maybe the Bible they use in his church really is silent on the subject. It would have to be a different, more “inclusive” version that leaves out the parts about protecting innocent life.
Conservatives have seen this routine for years. The left discovers religion only when it needs cover, then discards it the moment voters start quoting the actual text. CNN was happy to provide the platform, just as it always does for Democrats who need help looking less radical than they are. Texas voters, however, still know the difference between faith and political theater. Moments like Jody’s direct hit make that difference impossible to ignore.
